Help - Urgent retrieval of posted letter

Post by Cameron1590 »

Hi All,

Urgent help and advice needed here.

Cutting a long story short, I have just gone through a nasty breakup where I have agreed not to contact my previous partner.

I decided to write a letter to apologies to the mother in law and posted it in the mail box outside the delivery office.

The letter is still in said post box and I have left an envelope taped to the front explaining I need this letter back or face being arrested.

Please can someone advise how I can try and retrieve this letter? It was posted at the Mansfield delivery office this evening. If I come back tomorrow when the sorting office is open to the public will they be able to retrieve the letter for me?

Thanks

If you happened to be at the postbox when the postman came to empty it, and providing there wasn't a lot of mail in there, AND you could prove it was you who hand wrote the envelope (I'd want to see you writing on a card to check it matches), then I'd give it to you. If you've printed it, forget it! (You could be trying to steal mail). Failing that, get into the local enquiry office and explain your situation. Best of luck to you.

It is against the law for Royal Mail staff to give the letter back to you. Many of them will still do it if you ask very nicely, but please don’t be offended if they refuse.
