Is my international parcel lost?

Post by evoke »

I posted a parcel to Russia a couple of weeks ago but the tracking is worrying me a little. In the past it has taken around three weeks to deliver a parcel to Russia so I realise I'm a little early. However, the tracking details on Royal Mail and the Russia postal partner site don't add up. The parcel was posted at my local Post Office and I used International Signed and Tracked delivery.

The tracking number is of the form: RN*********GB.

Here's what Royal Mail tracking says:

07/04/17 AM ON ITS WAY TODELIVERY OFFICE COUNTRY UNKNOWN
07/04/17 01:38 ARRIVED (MDN) AT HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC
06/04/17 20:21 ON ITS WAY TOHEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC GREENFORD MAIL CENTRE
06/04/17 12:14 SENT AT POST OFFICE *****

And here's what the partner postal service in Russia says (https://www.pochta.ru/tracking" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;):

British Post
Awaiting release from England
07 April 2017, 03:38 England
Arrived at the Post office
06 April 2017, 12:14 England

So, there's been no update for ten days. The 'Country Unknown' returned by Royal Mail tracking is worrying as is the 'Awaiting release from England' from the Russian postal service. Any ideas on whether this is likely to be an issue or are things likely to sort themselves out? My proof of posting mentions Russia as the destination country.

On previous parcels that I've sent to Russia the tracking has been good and I've never seen a discrepancy between Royal Mail and the Russian postal service.

I thought I'd update this thread in case anyone else sends a parcel from the UK to Russia using Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed. Whilst the Royal Mail website states delivery within 5-7 working days, it does typically take a LOT longer. In my past experience a parcel under 2KG in weight would take around 3 weeks.

My last parcel was just delivered, taking about 4.5 weeks from posting to collection by the recipient.

I don't believe this is Royal Mail's fault. Looking at the Russia Post tracking, there were significant delays before it was registered as arrived in Russia. Customs doesn't seem to be an issue as it was processed by Russia customs within a day. Then there were more significant delays in transporting the parcel between distribution centres in Russia.

Anyway, it eventually got there so the recipient and I are happy.

No idea. To be frank you haven't given us any information at all and we would at least need some to give you an informed insight.

Your item is being prepared for despatch overseas).13/11 . And I can't even track it for any side UK or poland looks like been lost??? I'm very dissapointed, my first two sending through Royal mail an probably last one.

What were the contents of each one? Sometimes the contents can cause problems with customs

Space Phoenix is asking what is inside, e.g. a toy, some clothes etc. Some things can cause problems, and would lead to the parcel being stopped at Langley.
