Scammers have been targeting people across the region - and it has sparked a warning from North Wales Police
Police have issued a warning to people about an alarming new Royal Mail phishing scam which looks to be doing the rounds in the run up to Christmas.
Fraudsters are texting customers to tell them that their 'parcels' are ready for collection - but they have to pay £2.99 to get them.
Customers are then redirected to a seemingly authentic website with the address of royal-mail.cloud which looks like a standard Royal Mail tracking page.
The page, which features the current and authentic looking Royal Mail logo, also displays an advert for the Royal Mail app.
The text on the realistic looking page reads: “Royalmail allows you to track your parcel shipments at any time from shipping to delivery.

“Royalmail Express: Your package EA774980313UK shipped within 48 hours (2.99GBP).”
Anyone who has the bad fortune to fall onto the site is then prompted to give out personal details - including their full name, card details, address and date of birth.
North Wales Police have now issued a warning over the scam site, saying: “Scammers are imitating a Royal Mail and texting victims saying there is a parcel ready for collection, but £2.99 must be paid first.
“They ask for a photo and further details. Nothing to do with Royal Mail. It's a scam.”
