Postie delivered to empty council house.

Post by DonkeyJacket1 »

Was expecting summat 1st class sent on the 9th, usually takes a while sometimes but was running a bit late so i asked for the reference number off the seller. I was shocked when the royal mail track page said it was delivered on the 10th??? i was in all day and received nowt.

Went to the delivery office after that and tried to get an explanation as to what happened, turns out after they looked they said it was somehow delivered to a street near mine with the same house number, they said they would have a word with the postie who was on the round at the time.

Thought alrite i will just go and ask for it but then the neighbors said the person who lived there was evicted 2 weeks ago.

I called the council and the neighbor said she will call the council lady she has the number for who may have the keys, hope anyone more unscrupulous doing up the the house will not take a fancy to it as it was about 20 quid plus postage, i hope this is enough and the council will do summat/

I'm kind of wondering how this would happen? new postie? temp? or summat like that.

Probably just human error - it happens. Contact the seller, they should be able to claim from RM and they may be able to send a replacement.

To err is to be human as someone once said.

When you have a delivery consisting of a number of roads all with numbers and no house names it is not uncommon for mistakes to be made during sorting of the mail. This is most likely to happen when, for example, house number 27 on New Road is very close to house number 27 on High Street on the sorting frame.
We are supposed to check the mail before we push it through the letterbox as well. Deliveries with all properties having names rather than numbers tend to get less of this happening but mistakes are still possible. We do our best not to do so.
