The next sell-out
If this crap deal gets voted in, I'm wondering what next sell-out lies around the corner.Surely seniority and monthly pay will be the next targets?
I mean, why have all these old codgers on cosy duties, when we have all these young bucks who can run round and do them in half the time?
We could then sack all those old f*****s, who are not up to the job anymore as they are a burden on the pension fund.
All this for a small lump sum to keep the muppets happy!

Yes - tell it how it is - f*cking old bastards - now they are going to be clinging on til 65 FFS - there'll not be any b*stard pension left for us young ones. Never mind the pension, they should just get an ounce of lead in the left ear whingeing old tw*ts.prowler wrote:If this crap deal gets voted in, I'm wondering what next sell-out lies around the corner.Surely seniority and monthly pay will be the next targets?

I think he was using sarcasm there dv. But he has a point. Yes of course - it was a bit tongue in cheek myself - I'm 61 and would be only too happy to go with a small consideration - mind you not too small a consideration even us old folk have needs.IWW Fellow Worker wrote:I think he was using sarcasm there dv. So, you would be looking for the equivalent of four years salary to make it worth your while. A sum of money the postal parasites Leighton and Crozier wouldn't wipe their worthless arses on.dvbuk55 wrote:Yes of course - it was a bit tongue in cheek myself - I'm 61 and would be only too happy to go with a small consideration - mind you not too small a consideration even us old folk have needs.IWW Fellow Worker wrote:I think he was using sarcasm there dv. Re: The next sell-out
Well actually no - I'm not too greedy - 2 years would be a nice sum - the good lady wife is a little younger than I so she will continue to work to keep me in the manner I am accustomed to. I would also find it an anathema not to work at all and so I would take on part time work as and when. Later in life I went to college to take a 12 month building services course, based on plumbing and heating but covered all aspects really and so I can turn my hand to almost anything. If all else failed I would become an aged Lothario and sell my body for pleasure - and I can assure you there would be none more pleased than me!IWW Fellow Worker wrote:So, you would be looking for the equivalent of four years salary to make it worth your while. Trick questions at interviews , would you tackle someone whose been on Tennants Super , telling you to f**k off & won't pay to show "committment " ?, if you didn't you'd have a "attitude problem".
Basically everything was to knock the stuffing out of people & soften them up for Privatisation + it was the age of deference . You only have to read "Freedom to "manage" your offices as you think fit " in RM's "Battleplan" and Ward saying RM wanted a compliant workforce with a "sweetheart "in house union .
When Leighton says "our legacy from the past " -You have to read between the lines . We can all rest assured Crozier & his Senior Mgrs will be allright .
I'm sure there's ex BAE , Telecoms , Utilities posties that can tell similar stories .

Suitability or Seniority? How are jobs allocated in your office?norbet colon wrote:Seen it done -Suitability came in for supervisoral grades but there was ways & means of getting round seniority , Pychometric Tests to eliminate "Independent Thought " , a AM said "that's how we sort you bolshy one's out ", if there was PC Issues -"allowances would be made ".

In my opinion if a job is available anyone should be able to apply for it. The most senior would get the job and if he or she needs training to become 'suitable' then so be it. If they then can`t do the job or find it`s not to their liking it goes to the next in line of seniority. I`ve seen people 'shoehorned' into a cushy job on a supposed 'temporary' basis by a manager only to remain there for over a year. Then when they eventually advertise the job correctly (as should have been done in the first place) guess who gets it on the grounds of 'suitability'? Yep you guessed it.

Under the Way Forward there was a clearly delineated spectrum of posts that had to be allocated on seniority and suitability basis, and there wasn't many.strangler wrote:Suitability or Seniority? The issue though has been clouded somewhat because there are posts that have been allocated because of DDA and more recently family friendly issues because of the later start times. Those duties would not be included in any resign and therefore would not be subject to seniority. There has been no official agreement as far as I know but it is certainly going on in practice.
