Well actually no - I'm not too greedy - 2 years would be a nice sum - the good lady wife is a little younger than I so she will continue to work to keep me in the manner I am accustomed to. I would also find it an anathema not to work at all and so I would take on part time work as and when. Later in life I went to college to take a 12 month building services course, based on plumbing and heating but covered all aspects really and so I can turn my hand to almost anything. If all else failed I would become an aged Lothario and sell my body for pleasure - and I can assure you there would be none more pleased than me!

Seen it done -Suitability came in for supervisoral grades but there was ways & means of getting round seniority , Pychometric Tests to eliminate "Independent Thought " , a AM said "that's how we sort you bolshy one's out ", if there was PC Issues -"allowances would be made ".

Trick questions at interviews , would you tackle someone whose been on Tennants Super , telling you to f**k off & won't pay to show "committment " ?, if you didn't you'd have a "attitude problem".

Basically everything was to knock the stuffing out of people & soften them up for Privatisation + it was the age of deference . You only have to read "Freedom to "manage" your offices as you think fit " in RM's "Battleplan" and Ward saying RM wanted a compliant workforce with a "sweetheart "in house union .

If they then can`t do the job or find it`s not to their liking it goes to the next in line of seniority. Under the Way Forward there was a clearly delineated spectrum of posts that had to be allocated on seniority and suitability basis, and there wasn't many.
The issue though has been clouded somewhat because there are posts that have been allocated because of DDA and more recently family friendly issues because of the later start times. Those duties would not be included in any resign and therefore would not be subject to seniority. There has been no official agreement as far as I know but it is certainly going on in practice.
