Noisy postman
Hi,
Our postman comes in a van with the radio on Talk Sport at full volume. I work from home in a house of just a few flats down a private drive and several times the noise has disrupted phone and video conferences. I guess he leaves it so loud so that he can hear the commentary while he's delivering to each flat. It's only for a few minutes each time so I've gritted my teeth and put up with it but recently after delivering the letters he then just sat in his van, door open, radio blaring, fiddling with his phone for about 10 minutes. I was in the middle of a work conference and the noise came through the microphone and drowned out the call. I had to apologise to my colleagues, leave the meeting and go outside to ask him to turn it down. He did do that but was quite sullen about it and still continues to come every day radio blaring. I know it might seem petty but this is private property and I think I should be able to work from my own home without this kind of disruption. It seems quite rude to just keep doing it even after I politely explained that the radio noise was drowning out my calls. I've had enough of it.
I could complain to RM but don't necessarily want the guy to get into trouble, I just want him to respect that he is on private property and should behave accordingly. One or two of the postmen stop here to eat their sandwiches etc, and we've never stopped them doing that even they don't ask if it's ok. Any suggestions how I can deal with this noisy postman?
Thanks,
Andy

you asked once, that's enough. it doesn't sound unreasonable to expect a little bit of courtesy.
Confused... You won't be, after the next episode of. SOAP

If you consider it noise pollution and have approached him in a reasonable manner then I am afraid any comebacks are on him alone.
My own personal opinion, having suffered from noisy neighbours in the past, is that you have every right to make a complaint to the business and even to the Environmental Health department of your local council.
I did upset one car driver once when I walked past him and his radio was blaring, I attracted his attention and said "Very generous to share your music mate, but I prefer to listen to my own choice of music" - got a dirty look but he did turn it down.
If the postie is on here, what you are doing is in poor taste, its impolite and it can bring RM into disrepute, have some common sense and courtesy and turn it down.

Inconsiderate arses in every walk of life.
He won't get into any real bother but he will have a manager discussing it with him.

The radios in our vans don't require the keys to be in the ignition.
