RD Delivered but to Mount Pleasant W DO

Post by Chris-W »

Good Evening,

Not the best way to spend New Years Eve :-) I'm looking for some help in the form of some assurance that documents sent via Recorded Delivery have not fallen into the wrong hands! My in-laws sent some photo ID via recorded delivery last week. The item is shown on the tracking as delivered and signed but not to the address is was sent to, but by Mount Pleasant W DO, which I assume is the Delivery Office. The recipients have not received the items (it's a Bank so they do believe them!).

Has anyone got an explanation please as to why the Delivery Office would sign for it please?

Thank you for any guidance you can give

Chris

There is a Delivery Office at Mount Pleasant, it covers much of Central London. Did the address have a PO Box number in it?

another possibility is that there's a surcharge to pay, if there is keep an eye out for a grey card that will have the details of the surcharge

I would check what postcode the sender wrote on the item and if it is correct. Writing an incorrect postcode will send it to the wrong address.

Several legitimate reasons for this spring to mind. It is hard to give an opinion without knowing more.
  • Is it coming from outside of the EU, therefore subject to a customs charge?

Does the sender have an address in central London?

Are you getting it delivered to a work address in central London?

And (a long shot) do you have a PO box or keepsafe arrangement?

If it is coming from outside the EU and is worth more than £18 then there will be a customs charge. Assuming that this is your local DO and that you haven’t received a grey card, go down there with a passport or driving licence and cash to cover the customs charge.
