All stuck on Langley!

F**** this service...
On one post you accused Royal Mail posties of stealing your iPhone, and on this one, you used an expletive.

I would ask you to be a little more civil in the future, it would also mean you are more likely to get helpful comments from the people who post on here voluntarily and for no gain.

I will also take this opportunity to remind you that we are not Royal Mail, so using expletives against them on this site is pointless.

Customs at Langley HWDC

Hi there,

I was wondering if anybody could help me, Had a parcel stuck at HWDC since May 31st, tracking number LX033158050CA from British Columbia, which has had no update since. Canada Post has record of it being recieved at HWDC, with signature whilst customs have stated that with the wait-time it's no longer with Border Force as it contained a jade pendant. However, Royal Mail has no record of it and claiming it's still in Ontario to the contrary. How long could the item realistically take to clear, as it was not a cheap purchase at roughly 120.00GBP, and has some very strong emotional connotations, as was purchased to celebrate the halfway point of med school, as a gift, considering the fact that I'm a survivor of rape.

Could you guys please help me out?

I've just checked your tracking number on royal mail's website and its saying the same thing as mine.
Just so you know you're not alone in this mine to is very expensive.
I have noticed that royal mail do miss on updating their tracking. I've had orders that have arrived at my house and the tracking still says it's at Langley lol
Sorry I couldn't be much help, I hope we both get our items soon!

It appears that this is restricted under UK customs rules, so did the sender obtain permission from the consulate / embassy before sending?

Yes, The consulate gave the seller permission and the relative forms were filed to my knowledge. After trying once again, I got through to a woman in RM who stated the item is now showing in their records, but is still stuck in Customs, and the likely charge will be along the lines of 30.00. Thankfully, all my other postage has been shipped through the Dover route so should hopefully avoid this issue occurring again.

Parcel Stuck Customs at Langley HWDC

Post by Rhys71 »

My parcel arrived at Langley on the 17th of June 2019 and it’s now the 29th of June 0219 can anyone’s let me know why this is taking so long to clear customs. All inside is a gaming mouse from the USA don’t know if that’s part of the problem or not. The carrier service is dhl and the tracking number is : GM275115965002146768. This is an e-commerce tracking number.

If it's being delivered by Royal Mail then it'll get a new tracking number somewhere as that's not a valid tracking number for either Royal Mail or Parcelforce. There might be a customs charge depending on the value of it. Is it a cordless one, if it is, does it contain a lithium battery?

No it’s wired so no lithium battery , the tracking number was for dhl e-commerce and i won’t receive a tracking number for Royal Mail because it’s the standard shipping. I am just wondering with it’s been there for over 10 working days

Hey I wondered if anyone can help me out!! My item is coming from the USA. I buy from the USA quite often and I haven't had any previous issues with parcels. However a recent box entered the UK according to the USPS tracking. It says "Your item departed a transfer airport in HEATHROW, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM on July 23, 2019 at 11:22 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination." But is hasn't updated since and royal mail just says the item is leaving the USA. It hasn't been registered on their tracking obviously because they don't have it yet.

My item isn't of any value so wouldn't get a customs fee so it's really unlikely that it's been held because of any charges.

I have phoned royal mail and hm revenue and customs and both are just blaming the other... as far as I can see though, I side with royal mail on this one as it seems it's just stuck at customs rather than royal mail having any part in this delay. Any idea why it's stopped tracking?

Yes, but they are also checking for things that aren't allowed into the UK, dangerous goods, CITES violations...

Customs pick batches at random for extra checks. Customs don't do any tracking scans.

Thanks for replying! How long do you think I should wait for any extra checks at customs to be done? Thanks :)

If it is something you bought online, claim from the seller if it doesn't arrive in the time the contracted to send it to you. If from a friend or relative, they should claim if it doesn't arrive in the time specified by USPS (5 weeks in most countries).

I also have a parcel stuck at LangleyHWDC since 22nd July-it’s now 2nd August. It’s come from USA through DHL E-Commerce on 2231000797512499, GM 275331468001101956. It’s large mug-that’s all and search as I have, I’m drawing up blanks. The company I’m dealing with, Etsy, say it’s never happened before.

Please can anyone help? I’m really fed up with waiting. Thanks.

Those aren’t numbers in the format Royal Mail use. Given it was sent by DHL, surely they will use their own network?

They may well do that, but it's still stuck at Langley and not moving at all and like OP who's American seller is using the same courier in the same way, they're stuck too. I heard Royal Mail run Customs is this true? if so that could be why everyones is posting on here. Can you please do any checking for me in Customs to see why it's being held there? We need help please-thanks
