Hi,
I'm not sure if any of you will be able to provide me with any information on this issue as it is a sensitive matter. I am having ALOT of problems with my postman (royal mail are aware of the issue, but it is now getting out of control)
I am getting accused (not the first time, but I have cleared my name every single time) of making a fraudulent claim.
Is it possible for a company to claim against a recipient if the recipient hasn't contacted them to ask where the item is?
I'm at a loss as to how this is possible.
The item had a 2D barcode on it, luckily I have it saved in the app, it says it is delivered (because it was) but the company has it logged under a different tracking code in my amazon account.
I am NEVER asked by my postman. I am NEVER contacted by a manager (until my complaint goes in) they just pay claims out. I am finding out from people in the area I live through the malicious gossip my postman spreads about me with his friends. (royal mail are aware)
This is causing a huge amount of distress.
I was under the impression (I've been told alot of information about tracking my managers who have visited my home after I have put in a formal complaint) 2D barcodes show the GPS on your PDA as to where the item was scanned? E.G. Doorstep
Is it possible for a company to file a missing item claim with a different 2d barcode?
Any help is appreciated.

Not that I am aware of. If they have sent something and it hasn't arrived their claim is with Royal Mail, not the receiver. They should have policies and procedures in place to be "Distance Selling Regulations" compliant if they are a registered company. Is it possible for a company to claim against a recipient if the recipient hasn't contacted them to ask where the item is?
some tracked items have a 2d bar code as well. Posties have been instructed to scan the 2d barcode which should update the tracking for that and the tracked number. In some instances, the postie will scan the tracked code instead of the 2d one, but this should only happen if the 2d code can't be scanned. The item had a 2D barcode on it, luckily I have it saved in the app, it says it is delivered (because it was) but the company has it logged under a different tracking code in my amazon account.
I suppose it's within the realm of possibility that an item with a tracked number and a 2d barcode won't cross update, but it would be relatively rare.
If that's the postie - ignore them. There is a process in place to catch fraudulent claims, so its probably the postie getting stressed when a manager asks him about an item.I am getting accused (not the first time, but I have cleared my name every single time) of making a fraudulent claim.
Posties won't know that there is a claim unless a manager asks about a particular item, even when they are guessing as officially there is no requirement for a postie to be aware if a claim of non-receipt has been made. Also, Managers won't contact you about a claim unless asked to do so as part of an investigation. Whether a claim is accepted or rejected is made centrally not by the local manager.I am NEVER asked by my postman. I am NEVER contacted by a manager (until my complaint goes in) they just pay claims out.
yes, but only certain managers with access to a specific programme, and customer services have access to this. There is a circle of error probability but its only a few meters.2D barcodes show the GPS on your PDA as to where the item was scanned? E.G. Doorstep
No, the 2d bar codes are unique to each item, but if it has a 2d and a tracked barcode, its possible that they may claim on either. Is it possible for a company to file a missing item claim with a different 2d barcode?

Thank you SO much for that detailed reply. It really is appreciated.
It's a bit difficult to ignore the postie - he stalks me on social media and in life. He's spread malicious gossip about me in the area I live (he lives around the corner from me), he arranges for vicious dogs that have bitten his colleagues to be where I am with mine so that will attack my dog / bite me (I've been bitten by a dog already!)
This has been going on for 2.5 years he has mentally destroyed me and I don't know what else I can do.
Any complaints they are intercepting - they won't allow customer services to investigate the issue (I recently sent a 80 page complaint in and head office grabbed it!) I sent a 41 page complaint in on Monday and it hasn't been scanned as delivered yet and I'm worried my postman has intercepted again as he collects from the post office and saw me carrying it (I know it against the law) but this is a huge scam against royal mail.
Im at my wits end with it.
I now want him removed but I know they won't because he is one of the more senior colleagues at my local depot. He seems untouchable.
There doesn't seem to be any protection to fraudulent claims. Obviously I shouldn't get to know that there are claims in my name and address unless I have obviously started the claim. I am having to find out from the gossips where I live.
One of the fraudulent claims was definitely just a 2d barcode but in my amazon account and email the company used a different tracking number - it isn't even a royal mail tracking number - just random letters.
The other 2 were first shipped by UK mail and passed over to royal mail but they haven't been scanned as delivered even though they have. Would royal mails PDA be able to scan a UK mail barcode to confirm delivery?
I have sent in my amazon message center to prove I haven't contacted any companies about missing items. But not sure if this will be enough.
All my problems are with small companies - 3rd party on amazon.
I have absolutely no confidence in royal mail anymore and it really is a shame because as a whole I think it still is one of the best in the country.

No, they can't read them.Would royal mails PDA be able to scan a UK mail barcode to confirm delivery?
If he is intercepting them he is breaking the law. If you have enough evidence or suspicion, and with the other behaviour, I would consider contacting the police. Or failing that Citizens Advice.Any complaints they are intercepting - they won't allow customer services to investigate the issue
You can miss the local managers and posties out by contacting RM direct by phone https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app ... tree-after" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
or on twitter @royalmailhelp
or even using a web form at https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app ... tree-after" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; direct link https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app ... tact/c/310" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If that doesn't help you can always take it to the next level the Postal Review panel https://www.royalmailgroup.com/en/about ... omplaints/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; but you have to exhaust RMs complaints procedure first.

Once again, thank you for your reply it is much appreciated.
I have done everything you suggested. I took it to the postal review panel in December 2018 and his manager covered for him. He wilfully delayed a tracked parcel. Absolutely useless service.
I reported him to the police in July 2018 and it was a civil matter over harassment and stalking. Royal mail again covered for him.
I've reported the fraudulent claims that happened last year to action fraud but nothing came of it.
I've had mail withheld, ripped, screwed up, wilfully delayed, snide remarks from posties in the street, sprayed with window cleaner at the depot you name it, its happened.
I would not have a problem if I had done something to deserve it, but I haven't. I've cleared my name everytime as soon as I have found out from the gossips in the area.
If he'd give me just 30 seconds of his time and ask me I would be able to give him all the evidence I have. But he won't. He opts to trash mine and royal mails name.

Then all I can suggest is to see Citizens Advice and see if they can help, or check your house insurance for legal matters cover, failing that perhaps a letter from a solicitor.
Also log all your interaction, if you are not doing already that may help in any future complaints as it will show a pattern.
To be honest you need professional advice rather than off the cuff suggestions from a postie trying his best to help.

Thank you so much for all your time and effort trying to help, it really is appreciated.
Thank you for your suggestion, I did think about seeking legal advise but didn't think about accessing it through our insurance - thank you.
All you decent posties keep up the excellent work that you are doing. There are still some honest customers out there who are willing to help you out if you give them a chance.
Have a good day
