You are more than right, but why is the Buyer-Client the one that should be affected by that? Why there is no more reinforcement written from government/customs so the supplier can be banned or be force to refund the buyer in case he does not fulfill the rules? After the first or second sentence against the supplier and this be forced to refund and loss the goods all the problem could be sorted easily.Your anger is aimed at Royal Mail because they obey the rules, when really, in my opinion, it should be aimed at the sender for not checking the rules, and the Postal company they used in not applying them correctly.

Parcel at Langley HWDC
hello and good night.
I have found this site, and probably someone can kindly help. I sent a package from Spain to Chepstow Monmouthshire, the 18th of February.
I sent it express through Letter service from Correos, and Royal Mail as correspondent.
It arrived to Langley HWDC the 20th of February tracked. Package had a tracking number, was sent Tracked and have sent a lot of letters and packages to the UK in the past, without issues at all, and in 2-3 days arrived to the addressee....
but not this time.
I have been in the past 7 days trying to receive any info from Royal Mail, and have no answer at all. I understand that Custom duty is holding the package? is there any help i can get here?
Tracking RF165321466ES
if someone can help, i will appreciate it.
regards.

How would a Government take action against a company that it has no contractual relationship with and is located in another country?angelprado wrote:You are more than right, but why is the Buyer-Client the one that should be affected by that? If you buy from another EU country then you get cover from the EU consumer protection rules. But that is because the EU has the laws and treaties in place to allow / enforce this. If you are buying from outside the EU then there is no equivalent legal framework.

Hi everybody, give this information to help other people waiting for: After two weeks being block at Langley last Saturday my parcel left the place and it is on closest post office. After checking the tracking link this morning, this told me that a £14.88 fee has to be pay and the parcel can be collected from the delivery point or re-delivered. I could register on line and access to pay by card and reschedule the delivery. Hope everything is sorted now and your parcels end in the same. Cheers.

I think we have found the issue ... several posters on here report delays when sending watches. I would guess that this is because many watches contain lithium batteries, which have restrictions on them, but also many do not, so there is some extra level of checking that takes place.indejaus wrote:a watch, and that was what it was declared, ....
What is the power source for the watch?

It will be stopped while they make sure there are no batteries. Once they are sure, it should carry on to the destination.indejaus wrote:Snaggletooth wrote:automatic! well, now i see what might have caused the problem. But it has no batteries at all!

You have already let Royal Mail know. Why let them know again?

Any help possible on my problem? I have a watch from China that's been in Langley since 12 March, tracking number LX660941311NL. Like other posters, no communications about it. I've bought plenty of stuff from China before, this is the first time something has been held by customs.
EDIT - I emailed the company and checked, and the watch doesn't use lithium batteries, so it doesn't fall foul of those rules, but it's disappointing to find that the watch is now in limbo when I'd rather it was on my wrist!
Cheers for any thoughts and thanks for such a brilliant, useful forum!

Watches seem to get delayed every time. Best guess is that Royal Mail examine all watches carefully, to make sure there is no battery, before sending on.

Ta. Oh well, I'll just be patient. Everyone's got a job to do, it's just a pity the lead-time on checking items is so long.
