Parcel from EU stuck in HWDC Langley

Post by Stratos_Ch »

My parents sent me a Christmas present from Greece on the 20th of Dec 2018. According to the tracking number the item has been received at the HWDC Langley on the 24th of Dec. Since then (it's been one month already) the tracking number appears the item to be located in HWDC Langley.

The item is a mobile device (a new iPhone). Since the item has been sent from an EU country it doesn't go through custom clearance neither does it contain anything forbidden. I visited the HWDC Langley where I inquired about the item but the only thing that they told me is to complete a claim.

I am aware that many people in here are facing issues with Langley. Is there anyone else who had the same issue with an item delivered from an EU country? I am not certain if a claim will be helpful in my case. I've already called the Royal Mail customer service three times, visited my local post office twice and even went to Langley myself but I receive the same response from everyone.

Any advice/suggestion would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

No, but it will go through legal and safety checks even if it came from an EU country.

iPhones are okay as long as they follow the strict guidelines that are imposed for aircraft safety.

My advice would be to hang on a week or so, but also make a claim. Some posters on here, and other sites are reporting getting their items as late as 6 to 8 weeks after it got tracked into HWDC.

With regards to Royal Mail, HWDC and the local Post Office, none of them can help - its Customs where they delay is, like with everyone else, unfortunately.

Not sure if customs charge VAT on anything, if they do, keep an eye out for a grey card in the post
