'Something for You' card

Hi there. I don't know if i am on the correct bit but i need to collect an missed delevry item from royal mail but the "something for you" card was not left and i have been told that i will not be able to collect my item with out it. Is this correct and if so any ideas asto help at all please as i really need my item but can't guarantee when i will be in for a redelivery due to working strange hours. Many thanks. Nik

Is it something that's coming from abroad? If it is then it might be down to a customs fee which needs paying so you'll get a grey card instead

How do you know the delivery was attempted? Was there an email? You can have your parcel delivered to your local post office for collection at your convenience, or even delivered to your work place.

No you were given incorrect information. Just pop down to the callers office at your local DO and give your name and address and ask if there is an item for you waiting to be collected. Be sure to take some identification with you such as a photo card driving licence or your passport. If you don't have one of those something like a council tax or HMRC letter may suffice.

They might not give you your pacel without the Something for you card, in my office we are not allowed.

If we are going to try & redeliver nextday is there any point in filling in date name address postcode & reference number?

Two loops, yes I think so.

If there is 5 people living in the house and they are all expecting something soon, this card doesn't give any clues as to who the recipient might be.

I wonder what happened to Mark's delivery today - as it was the 2nd attempt today.

Yes.

Professionalism and pride in your work.

But more importantly, the receiver may be expecting more than one parcel and if you give them details on the card at least they know which parcel it is about.

Yes because with all the deets, it enables the recipient to make arrangements to PO Local Collect or have
it delivered a different date when they are definitely going to be in, thereby saving you doing the automatic second delivery.

I'm more sure having filled all that information in for first day delivery, is just a bigger stick Royal Mail like beating you with?

My Mother, and my father before he passed, do/did not have a text-capable phone or an email address. Also, not all orders require an email address so while in the vast majority of cases, they may get a text or an email confirmation, we have no way of knowing if the sender provides that service or if the receivers are capable of receiving them. So best to fill in the card as it can save the grief later.
