Wrong postcode but the rest of the address is correct

Post by browse43 »

Hi, I bought an item of ebay which was posted by the sender yesterday. As soon as I read the address, I realised that the first part of the address was my parents address but the postcode was my one. I live in the same town as my parents (Colchester) but my parents postcode is Co4 and the postcode written down is for the CO2 area. Is there any chance it still might be delivered to my parents? I know there's a big chance that it could be sent to the return centre but I know that the sender didn't put down the return address. What do you think?

In all likelihood it will be delivered to your parents address as once it gets received in the Colchester delivery office the street address will be used more than the postcode (unless there are more than one Colchester delivery office which I don’t know I’m afraid)

Hopefully by now it may have been delivered.

NEVER put an incorrect postcode on an item of mail. If you are unsure just write the address and not a postcode. When mail goes through the Mail Centre only the postcode is looked at. For example the MP prefix is Wales whereas the HP prefix is Buckinghamshire. These mistakes are VERY common and always result in the mail going somewhere else then bouncing back and forth like a pinball machine.

Yep - HD we get HP, and HG just because they put Harrogate or Hemel Hempstead then HD?. At Christmas forever crossing out or changing postcodes on Christmas cards.
