sending a package to the USA problems

Post by djneils »

Hi all
I sent a package to the USA last week signed and tracked but I get this message on Royal mail tracking - "Tracking no. RN455421556GB In Transit Your item is now leaving the UK. More information will be available when it arrives in the destination country." THIS WAS ON THURSDAY 21/11

I then get a link to USPS where it says "Your item has been processed through a facility in LANGLEY HWDC, UNITED KINGDOM at 1:31 am on November 22, 2018."
So I have no clue as to if it's in the UK or the USA and why it hasn't done anything in 6 days
Anyone have any ideas where it could be and how I find out? It's a product being sent back to the manufacturer in the states for repair.

Does the package contain anything with a lithium battery in at all?

thanks for the reply - yes it does but from what I read on the website this is allowed in a device.
(It says -"Allowed in UK and international post when contained in a device* but are prohibited in Business Response, Freepost™, Packetpost™ and Packetsort™")
I have sent the same item before without issue

If that is the reason what will happen? will I get the item back?

Allowed in a device: yes, but under a number of strict conditions. For instance, you have to use "rigid" packaging (cardboard boxes are okay, jiffy bags are not), the package must carry your return address, you cannot send a spare battery with the item etc. Also, all of the normal overseas mail rules must be followed, for instance the use of CN22 customs forms.

so the item (a vape-pen) was in a rigid box (the one I purchased it in) inside a Jiffy bag.
I did put my return address on the package. No spare batteries.
Not sure what a CN22 form is but was not mentioned in the post office when I sent it

Any idea what will happen?
thanks for helping me

The customs form that needs to be carried by all parcels leaving the EU:

This is fine with regards the packaging. There could be an issue if you included some liquid for the vape stick.

sending a package to the USA problems

I have the same problem. I sent a package to the USA on 20/11 and the tracking has told me that it left my local depot on route to Heathrow, that’s as far as it has got. Royal Mail has said they can give me no other information than is on the tracking online screen. I don’t know if it’s got to Heathrow, let alone the USA. Am totally cheesed off. What’s the point in it being tracked if there is no info, and if it’s lost.......well I might go postal !!!!
