Royal Mail Signed for Undeliverable

Post by sinais6559 »

Hi there
Looking for some advice/help. I posted an item by signed for delivery. On checking the tracking, it says delivery has been attempted twice but the 'address was inaccessible'. I've checked with the company (its an item I'm returning to a company) and they said the address is definitely an operating business address which was open and accessible on the attempted delivery days. So I've checked my signed for receipt and the post office assistant has entered the incorrect unit number into the system. I definitely wrote the correct unit number (Unit 6-8) on the front of the parcel, but she has entered it as Unit 12 on the royal mail system. Unit 12 probably doesn't exist so no wonder its not accessible! Why wouldn't the postman use/look at the address on the front of the parcel?! This is awful, because by the time I end up getting the item back from Royal mail, it'll be too late to get a refund on it. What can I do???? :nervous

They do. In fact, the postie can't even see what the clerk in the Post Office typed unless they go and look it up specially.

Have you checked that the address you have agrees with the address on Royal Mail's Postcode & Address Finder? Over the years I have seen a few cases of dodgy companies giving out garbled addresses so that items don't arrive on time.
