Tell him no, you'll be there at 9:45.

And that's if the lift he has arranged is on time.

It's changed, often now new starters can get variation by way of "home office" but can be classed as regional reserves also.
They are contracted to travel within a geographical area themselves.

Check you contract first op.

Basic delivery bullying by so called “ managers”
They really do not have a clue. The travel time bears no relevance to these idiots.
They only see a duty, that duty is covered by A.N. Other, sorted ,!
They have no skill or ability to deal with anything other than that.
Anything other than the duty being done fully results in intimidation.
They have become so used to other people digging them out of a s**t hole, they take it as a given, throw the dummy out the pram and start the slagging/bullying/intimidation game.
Unfortunately do not expect much sympathy from colleagues or the Union for that matter, YOU are leftover the dogs.
Totally wrong and unacceptable treatment to endure. Stick to your guns, only work your contracted hours and go home.
Then complete a grievance complaint against the manager. And hope you do not get sent back. These twats and their DOM pals have a habit of carrying a grudge, cover yourself at all costs.
I see nothing changes then.

Can’t believe some people get work communications via text message. I often get called but I never answer because it’s always them begging me to do a favour. If I was texted I’d outright ignore it or just delete it.

If they have a problem, you never received a text, or you think it’s not very professional your manager is texting you on your personal mobile. They have no right to search your phone for proof either. Stick to your guns. Tell them you’re starting at your contracted time and traveling to the office in your time as is your right. Also tell them if you receive any more texts from management telling you (demanding) your start be earlier (at a location further away than normal, you’ll be putting in a grievance.

Yes it's changed but what has not changed is the start at your own office and finish at your own parent office. The problem is that most posties would probably not even bother with these regulations if the screws treated them fair and with a bit of respect. They would get more out of posties but there that stupid and ignorant that they just f**k everything up. Send them to any other parcel/mail operator and they would last about 2 days, maybee.

1st thing i would be explaining the situation with your union rep to clarify the start/finish times at which office, then make him/her tell the dom this is the agreement.
unsure if there is now a clause in new starters T&C's but 2nd thing i'd be checking is car insurance, possibly breaking your policy details by going direct to another office,
maybe have a word with dom and say you're not insured to drive own vehicle to other office but can pick a van up from here then go,
think the only proviso RM have to new starter posties ( assuming you are ) is to be able to drive, not own a car too, 45 mins further away is quite a bit unless city centre driving,
sure you said its in the garage getting repaired :shhhhh

No.
They are area reserves with a contract to work at any office in the area.
The contract is different. Just as some of them have Sunday in their contract now.
The original poster needs to check his contract first.

Don’t take it personally, they will try and push their luck with newbies.
Managers are a devious horrible bunch in reality with very few acceptions.
Best advice, join the union pronto ! Don’t let them bully you - EVER.

Thanks for letting me know clashcityrocker. I knew that the new starts could be sent to any office but I thought that they would still need to report at their NORMAL office. This policy is just taking the piss. It's the same as TH advertised a posties job just yesterday for a 30hr contract but the hours were 7 to 9, then home then back in from 1500 to 1900. This is a split shift, although their is a payment you get for it, on the job advert it didn't say anything about it, surprise surprise.....

Make sure you have Business insurance if you travel by car to other offices, Social and commuting insurance only covers for driving back and forth to a permanent place of work.

agree given the T&C probably now built into contracts, i'd never heard of not having a "home" but if true their car insurance definitely needs checking if any office is construed as their place of work

Glad our office is so short staffed constantly they're far more likely to be dragging people in than sending us elsewhere! I'm quite happy moving around being reserve in my office, I'd draw the line at moving to another though. People will work the odd rest day elsewhere on the (very) rare days that isn't an option at our place but even another day's pay couldn't tempt me.
