Redirection — after it expires?
Guys, sorry to trouble you, but can I ask you a simple question? I’ll have to use the Royal Mail redirection service for 6 months because I’ll be away from the present address and come back again 6 months later. In this case, will I get the post normally to my present address after 6 months’ redireciton period is over? Or will I have to arrange something with the delivery office when I come back? I tried to find the relevant info on Royal Mail site but not successful.
Your help will be appreciated.
Many thanks, Ken

You should get your mail delivered as normal once your redirection expires.ken_london wrote:Guys, sorry to trouble you, but can I ask you a simple question? One of the customers on my walk uses the redirection service every year when he goes to South Africa for the winter then returns to the UK in April or May. Effectively using the redirection like a keep safe sort of. As P13 said once a redirection expires the mail is delivered as addressed again. So if you were using the redirection service when you move house permanently you should make sure important mail such as bank statements etc know your new/current address otherwise other people at your old house will receive your mail.
The views I express here are mine alone and do not represent the views of Royal Mail Group.

Thanks a lot, Celgar - yes, I am definitely returning to my current address in 6 months’ time, and I wanted to make sure I will receive the important mails after I come back. Cheers, Ken

For a belt and braces approach mention it to your regular postie so that he doesn't try to help by redirecting after you've come back. They shouldn't but it can and does happen.ken_london wrote:Thanks a lot, Celgar - yes, I am definitely returning to my current address in 6 months’ time, and I wanted to make sure I will receive the important mails after I come back.
