Clarification about delivery updates...

Post by PostQuestion »

Hi, Just wanted some clarification. I understand that your website says once it leaves Langley it will update upon delivery, but the Royal Mail website says that "International Tracked - tracking within the UK and after leaving the UK plus online delivery confirmation". Does the "and after leaving the UK" part mean that there will be updates after it's left before it arrives? Also, does that mean there will be updates on the local post website before it gets delivered? Or does it just show up?

It's been several weeks with the status "Your item is now leaving the UK. More information will be available when it arrives in the destination country."
Thanks in advance!

It will depend on the destination country and whether they scan the item but in thoery yes it should be trackable on either the Royal Mail tracking system, or the local one.

Most delays are caused by customs of the receiving country, you can check details restrictions and prohibitions if you type in Google search Royal Mail (country name) ie Royal Mail Australia - it will bring up a country guide for that location.

FYI, Australia, Canada and the US are quite strict and that's where most of the delays are at the moment.

Thanks for the reply TrueBlueTerrier!
It still hasn't updated on the Royal Mail website. I'm in Canada...I spoke to the local post office and they said there won't be any updates on their website and it would only be through Royal Mail. Does this mean it will just be delivered and only update once delivered since it says the tracking at 5 points (which it has already shown) plus delivery confirmation?

As far as I know if Canada Post scan the item it will show up on both their website and the Royal Mail one. I hope at least they do scan it on delivery, but we are at the mercy of the local posties on this.
