Aus to UK - lost mail?

Post by lostmail99 »

Hey everyone

I posted a small parcel via airmail (untracked) from AUS to the UK (Sheffield), and it was unable to be delivered as recipient did not want to pay the extra customs fees. However, I did have a tracking number on the receipt which worked for Royal Mail tracking once it entered the UK - now it does not work anymore. The last it said was that it had been sent to a depot to be returned to sender.

Does anyone know the details of this depot so I can call and tell them to destroy the parcel? I actually don't want it to be returned.
I did not make a claim for the parcel, so I am wondering if it will be returned to sender? I did write my RTS details on the back of the parcel, but would prefer not to get it back.

To clarify: RTS details written on parcel, claim for lost/undelivered mail was not made, tracking number was working and said it was sent to a depot for RTS, trying to find who to contact to inform them to destroy parcel as I do not want it returned

Thank you all

the main place that does returns to sender is the RLB (Returns Letters Branch) but its based in Belfast and has no direct communication portals with customers. They do however have a database of items that the Customer Service people have been dealing with.

So there are 3 options. You could fill in the online customer query form at https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app ... tact/c/310" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (3 day aim to respond)

email them at customer.service.team@royalmail.com (10 day aim)

or use twitter @royalmail - usually pretty fast and if they can't help they will direct you to who can.

Good luck.
