Click & Drop Scanning Query

Post by Mark_07 »

Hey guys, quick question, to ease my curiosity more than anything.

I used click and drop for the first time today, bought postage online, scanned the QR code at the DC, guy behind the counter printed the 2D label, stuck it on my package then chucked it in a bag behind him.

At no point was this scanned, i'm just curious as to when it'll be registered as being "in the network"? This was around 10am this morning and the status is still showing "We're expecting it", so as far as the recipient i concerned I've not even posted it yet, and what's to stop that package going missing and there being no record of it ever being posted?

I was under the impression it would be scanned there to show it's been "received" then again once it's delivered (it's recorded, not tracked / SD).

Thanks in advance guys!

They haven't fully briefed RM staff in the QR codes but I suspect that as the Post Office and Royal Mail Letters are now 2 separate businesses the PO do not scan them. However, the MCs machines and the Delivery staff do. Therefore it should show some movement overnight after the collections driver has passed it on to the processing staff.

Thanks for the quick response, much appreciated.

So we think the delivery offices will ever start to scan the qr to update the tracking like the post offices do?

Main issue my buyer is wanting proof its been posted, guess he'll see if it updates overnight

You can ask for proof of delivery at the delivery office when you hand in your parcel, they will give you a receipt.

Thanks for the replies guys, still no updates on it this morning, fingers crossed it gets scanned when it's delivered as I have a feeling the buyer is going to try and say it was never received.

This is my first time using this, I'm thinking it might be the last if the scanning isn't going to be done properly, other than proof of postage I have no evidence the package actually left the delivery office.

Does anyone know if this will change anytime soon? IE will the delivery office start scanning the QR codes when it's dropped off? It's a shame the post offices don't appear to accept these (guess they dont have the printers?) as they always scan them when they're dropped off.

Sorry, just having a bit of a rant here!

With standard 2D barcoded mail (i.e. First Class Parcel Inland), I believe (though don't quote me) they only scan signed for/recorded mail at the point of delivery.
Otherwise no delivery scan data -- if my understanding is correct.

You can always contact click and drop who will have more information. Google click and drop.
