Parcel stuck at heathrow

This is what I got. And it's international signed, which means that I won't receive any further updates until a delivery attempt?

I find it a little confusing that the lady from Royal Mail told me over the phone that the parcel is not with them, but it appears that they've at least scanned package.

Ok. Thank you. No. Nothing dangerous. Just a used backpack I bought online. It is more than £39 so I guess I'll have to pay some tax.

Parcel stuck at heathrow

Post by LouieTedesco »

Hello all,

Am new to this site, seeking help.

USPS parcel RH000992116US has gone missing at London Heathrow – never delivered.

“Your item departed a transfer airport in HEATHROW, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM on March 29, 2018 at 7:40 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination.
Tracking Number: RH000992116US”

Presume it might be stolen – the value is $2000 and HM Customs should have interest in identifying the evildoer as import Duty was never paid on it. Clearly it arrived but was never processed on to HM Customs.

There must be a record of who was on duty on the date /time of arrival on March 29, 2018 at 7:40 am?

Appreciate any suggestions you might offer!

Cheers,
Louie

That is the STANDARD tracking message that USPS has passed it to UK Customs. They are the only postal company that do track it into Customs.

Its not showing on the RM system so unless the very first person to see it knicked it, it hasn't yet passed a RM scanning point.

If there is duty to pay it slows down the process considerably

It is probably in customs at the moment. A couple of things could have gone wrong to cause a delay like that:

Items costing that amount need the special CN23 customs form rather than the usual CN22 (https://www.royalmail.com/sites/default/files/CN23.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;);

Goods costing that amount are often things which have special rules concerning their carriage (cash, jewellery, laptops and cell phones for instance), it would be helpful to know what you sent;

Several posters on here recently have mentioned customs delays of a month or so.

Hello all,

Thank you for the suggestions.

The contents of USPS parcel RH000992116US is a 9k oval gold case, made in London during the 1950’s. A collector’s item bought for $2000 that was to be returned to England from abroad, purchased in the USA.

Yes I am prepared to pay any Customs Duty. However it would be twice-criminal if it was stolen by an airport / postal employee and snuck out without paying the customs fees.

Thus I would hope someone at Heathrow would investigate this and find the perpetrator who was on duty on March 29, 2018 at 7:40 am by conducting a simple check of the work schedule and interviewing the assigned work crew.

Theft, if it occurred here, needs to be stopped. How many thousands of parcels go thorough here daily and how can citizens protect themselves under the shroud of anonymity prevailing at Heathrow airport? How many citizens even know whom to contact for help?

Thanks again.

Cheers,
Louie

USPS at Heathrow, or even back in the US are the only ones that could because that scan was done by a USPS employee.

In fact they could narrow it down even further as they would know who was assigned to empty and scan the USPS items on board that aircraft.

A look through the country restrictions for the UK has several references to gold being prohibited and gold items being officially seized:

https://pe.usps.com/text/imm/fh_014.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think there is a good chance that the item has been held back waiting for somebody senior at HMRC to decide whether to allow it in or not. This is consistent with the tracking information you have provided: customs don’t scan items. There is a chance that your item will be seized and destroyed. I recommend that you call HMRC for clarification on the rules on importing gold items into the UK by post.

Parcel stuck at Heathrow Langley HWDC

Post by Eddierow »

Sorry to start an old thread again but it seems like a very informative one and possibly the best one to ask this.

I'm wondering if parcel force use Langley too?

The reason I ask is I had a parcel arrive at Heathrow on the 2/08/18 and there has been no movement since.

It's from the US and using USPS as the outbound courier.

I know it's most likely to be in customs, the contents of the parcel is 1kg of herbal tea with a value of 100$ so they are probably just working out the tax.

The only thing is I've been ordering the stuff for around 8 months and every time previous it has been released within 24 hours.

And usually the tracking number works with parcel force but this time it's been a few days and the tracking number says it's still in the US on the p/force website.

Any feedback is welcome.

Hi, I have sent a mail from Spain to UK and from 22 of August it's been stuck at LANGLEY HWDC, United Kingdom. Tracking number is: RF149604384ES . I went to the post office here in Spain and they told me that only after 15 days they can open an investigation. There are some important documents in an anvelope which needs to get to a company, my question is why is this happening ? How can a mail be stuck when you've sent it with tracking number ?
