No the hourly rate for Part timers and Full timers will increase so the effect is:

Partimers: A 2.6% pay rise with no change in Hours.

Fulltimers A 2.6% pay rise with an hour off the working week. Basically cancelling each other out.

The union wants to implement their shorter working week (SWW) and eventually get us down to a 35 hour week for full timers but still get paid for 40 hours. We have already dropped down to 39 hours a while ago. The new pay proposal/agreement seeks to introduce another two hours of SWW which if implemented will take us to a 37 hour week for 40 hours pay. But arriving at the 37 hour week is based on all the trials for new working practices being successfully implemented first or at the least given the go-ahead. Two of the trials, timed windows for tracked items & not sorting mech into our sorting frames , are troublesome ideas at best and likely impossible to implement. So we likely won't see the latest two hours of SWW implemented.

I thought the SWW was based on trials but apparently not, according to this previous post

The 2018 Deal Justice for the 89.1% RESPONSE

Reduction in the Working Week

"The reduction to 38 hours will in fact happen in October. What has been agreed is that we will undertake trials only for its introduction and not that it is subject to them being implemented or resourcing to workload, individual performance data etc, etc. The working day will be made up with various attendance times that suit the ability to create innovative duty structures, and the flightpath to 35 hours helps increase this even more."

So if the flightpath is 35 is attained, & the new full time starters will now be employed on a 35 hour week, it is not necessary to say "but still get paid for 40 hours" . FT will get paid for 35 at a higher hourly rate.

We should only reduce our working week when our workload gets reduced not before. According to the figures we are delivering more parcels and tracked items, doing collection boxes and scanning everything else. What is the point in coming in to work 12 minutes later when all its going to do is put more pressure on ourselves??
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Rogersh. "FT will get paid for 35 at a higher hourly rate".
I was under the impression the CWU are saying that we would not get a decrease in wages but the hours would eventually get down to 35 hours officially ? Saying we are getting a higher hourly rate implies the opposite and that FT staff are effectively being downgraded to part time staff.
The amount of mail to be sorted and delivered will not reduce as a result of the SWW being implemented in fact the reverse is partly the case. Nor will RM employ more staff based on the SWW policy. It is purely a book working exercise and massaging of the figures. We will still be expected, or will just carry on, as before and the status quo will remain unchanged.

I am not trying to imply anything. I am merely stating the fact if you divide the weekly pay rate by 35 then obviously the hourly rate will be more than it would if you divided by 39.
