Hello all,
I’m hoping that someone can offer us some help or peace of mind.
On Sunday my partner ordered a Christmas present but he entered the wrong postcode. It was supposed to be ‘B34’ but instead he mistyped ‘B37’ (the rest of the postcode is the same). I understand that this means the parcel will get sorted to the districts sorting office. There is a valid postcode for the mistyped one but no address for this exact postcode with the same house number. Our street name is a very unique one, too. One problem that arises though is that this area has multiple roads, each with postcodes varying by only one digit, and at least one of these has the same house number as ourselves.
So, what are the chances that the postman will notice the mismatched postcode and the item could get re-routed back to the correct address?
(The house number, street name, town and district are all correctly labelled on the parcel, if that’s somewhat helpful).
If anyone can help us out with some advice or personal experience, we would be very grateful.
Thanks

I doubt it will make any difference, at most it will be a day late. Most parcels are still hand sorted so the address is more important that the postocde (at least once it get to Birmingham). Those that are machine sorted, often turn up at the correct address anyway.
The postcode is just to help direct it, not the de facto delivery address.

I agree with Spedley, also as the 2 Post Codes B34 and B37 are actually neighbours there is a good chance that someone will know the correct office to send it to.
