Hi twobags, as you're a postie on the inside would've thought you might have your own ideas of what might be happening at this time of year!!
Is local office doing late parcel deliveries (although it is now getting quite late)?
Are local office short of manpower and resources so deliveries are failing and item left until resources available?
Is your local office a sub office and the item has been scanned out for delivery at the main office but has been
mis-sorted to another local sub (in which case the receiving sub should scan as mis-sort but this often doesn't happen!).

No longer a postie sadly, been out of it for a couple of years, hence customer, back when I was posting non delivered tracked items were frowned on massively as it meant the office had failed, never come across this before and item in question is needed, the office in question is a tiny one, and our postie is a decent one with experience, states it was scanned in at said local office

id guess that its still sitting in the DO with not enough staff to get it done on delivery day.....
