Imported and then re-exported?

Post by alvinlwh »

Hi RM staffers here, this is not your usual HWDC post, hopefully someone can enlighten me on what is going on with my parcel. It appears that it had arrived in the destination country, which is the UK, and then entered Kazakhstan? I know I by living in Orkney, my stuff do take the long way to get to me, but isn't this too far? Hopefully someone will know what is going on.

Imported and then re-exported?

Two possibilities:

1. It was put on the wrong plane in China and has now been forwarded to the right country;
2. The courier used has a hub in Kazakhstan and it got stuck there for a while (I note that the format of the tracking information is not of the type used by the national carriers).

I think that 1 is most likely.

Thanks. So you are saying that line 2 about arriving in the destination country is wrong basically?

It was a translation from Chinese Characters, which was probably previously Kazakh Cyrillic, and so more than likely it was the closest match rather than an exact translation. When our International Mail Centre scans incoming ones it says arrived HWDC, the Kazakh one probably says something similar but it (and ours) probably don't translate well because of its non-standard English/Kazakh.

Well, I do read Chinese and the translation is correct. Given that it is a CN tracking code, I expect the information to be given in Chinese as presented by 17track.

已 - already 到达 - arrived 目的 - target 国 - country

But the san was carried out in Khazikstan, not China :hmmmm The last original scan in Chinese would have been "2017-11-16 19:35 Airlines shipped" if they use the same methodology that we do, that was my point.

The fact that its a CN code doesn't affect the language the scan was carried out in, we still scan in English for CN codes.

No. In many countries, it may be physically in the country long before it shows as arriving in the country. This is because it hasn’t formally arrived until it has cleared customs.

I had not considered the point that TBT raises about translation when different alphabets are involved.

Get your point about "formal arrival", but isn't line 2 about physical arrival (before clearing customs)? Also, it seem to had arrived/left Kazakhstan 2 days after "physical arrival" in the destination country. Thing is 17track does know that the final carrier is Royal Mail, so it is likely the item is registered as UK is the final destination?

UPDATE: There is now an update to the tracking status:
2017-11-27 07:20 Illetsk, Russian processing center, has left

Looks like my package is doing an Eurotrip!

Mostly, only ‘formal’ arrival is tracked, not ‘physical’ arrival (to carry on your terminology). So, for items arriving into the UK, packages from the US get a ‘physical’ arrival tracking point, items from Canada, China and Australia don’t.

Now I am totally confused (even more than the beginning). So what does the 22 Nov entry about having "reached" the destination country means? It did not arrive in the UK (database error)? Or the destination country is not the UK (dropshipment)? Thing is 17track knows that the destination carrier is Royal Mail, so database error is unlikely.

2017-11-27 07:20 Illetsk, Russian processing center, has left
2017-11-24 00:00 Dosteck, Kazakhstan Processing center, has left
2017-11-22 06:00 Have reached the destination country <<<???

Got another scan from yesterday:

2017-11-29 08:00 Smolensk, Russian processing center, had left

At least it is getting closer to the UK now.

Sorry, I thought I'd made that clear.

The arriving in Destination Country is wrong - that happened in Kazakhstan, your item is coming here. It was misrouted that's all, a simple error.

What I tried to say earlier was that the translation of the "Arrival in Destination Country" status is probably a standard status of ALL parcels arriving in Khazakistan whether they were meant to or not.

Well, it appears my package is with yours :D

"2017-11-29 08:00 Smolensk, Russian processing center, had left
2017-11-27 07:20 Illetsk, Russian processing center, has left
2017-11-24 00:00 Dosteck, Kazakhstan Processing center, has left
2017-11-22 06:00 Have reached the destination country"

I order stuff a lot from China, judging by the date you ordered on Singles Day. Singles Day is hell for the chinese postal industry, and it will take a lot longer than normal to get out of mainland asia and into eastern europe. I am guessing the "have reached the destination country" is either:

1) It is actually in UK customs - but considering it is being updated it is unlikely
2) Just a message sent to all parcels arriving into a certain country.

At least now it's travelled 2000km from Illetsk to Smolensk in only 2 days, only about 3000km to go :nana: :nana:

As often with these things, you have to pay attention to the dates on the left and read backwards if necessary. So "Have reached the destination country" would be the accidental entry to Kazakhstan on the 22nd, since when it has moved through three locations in Russia.

Let me guess, Gearbest/Geekbuying? Some of their shipment had been fast but like you said, it had been really slow recently. Some tracking number don't even work properly. Must be a combination of Singles Day plus Christmas coming up. Just hope they will arrive before Christmas.

Nope, I ordered it from Aliexpress - an Anne Pro keyboard.
