I posted this small parcel (documents) on 27/Oct to Oz from Peterborough, UK. The UK Royal Mail tracking service shows "Your item, posted on 27/10/17 with reference xxxxx has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery in AUSTRALIA." and that the parcel left for Sydney on 28/10. There are no further updates on the royal mail site but it points to the Au post site for further tracking. If I go to the Australia post tracking service, it shows the item hasn't been scanned at all and there is absolutely no activity apart from a "Pending" status. Which is perhaps because of my query against the tracking ID rather than anything else. I'm totally stressed out as the docs took me a good few weeks to pull together and also some of it is originals. Should I retain any hope of this turning up soon at all? I contacted Au post and they wouldn't investigate until Royal Mail contacts them with info (they claim there are no records with them to indicate it's in Australia) and all that Royal Mail customer support have told me is they'd accept a compensation claim for missing item after 30 days have elapsed (but no help to investigate and neither would they contact Au post with additional information to help investigate ). Any advice deeply appreciated.
Thanks

Chances are that the item is with Australian Customs. Until it gets released by Customs to Australia Post, there's nothing that can be done. I believe that Australian Customs are quite strict, also it's the start of the run up to Xmas so they've probably also got more mail to process
