Item Sent To Wrong Delivery Office

Post by greiss »

Hi

I waited all day today for my item to arrive from Amazon, only to be told that it has been delivered to a wrong Royal Mail DO and I won't be able to get it today.

I especially took a day off to take this important delivery and this is how it turned up.

I want to know what kind of incompetence can cause this type of failure so that it can be noted and corrected by RM in future?

Thanks

We aren't RM and we cant know what type of "incompetence" caused it. Simple Human error, incorrect routeing, incorrectly addressed are all possible but not something this website can help with.

A bit like your error in not reading the notice on every page of this website

Thanks for your reply. I wish Royal Mail would defend their customer's convenience as fiercely as you are defending this forum's rules.

I just hoped someone who works for RM could enlighten me about this type of incorrect parcel routing where an exact postcode printed on the parcel cannot help determine the correct delivery office.

Never mind, I'll redirect my query directly to Royal Mail.

Edit: I am sure there are some fantastic people working for RM, the incompetence I mentioned in my original post was only focused on my particular delivery case and not directed towards RM in general.

I see plenty of Amazon packets with badly printed labels. Often the first two or three characters of every line is missing from the label due to bad printing alignment. While your frustration is appreciated, the "incompetence" may not lie with Royal Mail.

A lot of parcels now come addressed without a town/village name on. The final sorting to individual delivery offices
(in my area anyway) is done manually and if someone is not totally familiar with which delivery office has which
postcodes, items can go to the wrong delivery office. Particularly when you have a lot of towns/villages
with 'Main Street', 'High Street' or Acacia Avenue in one area and Acacia Way in another etc.
