Hi there,
I posted a parcel to Norway using international tracked and I have somehow lost one part of the two part receipt with the tracking number on it. I have the Merchant, terminal, application and transaction ID numbers on the main receipt.
Is there anyway the place where I posted it from will be able to find the actual tracking number from these details? It's a small local post office and I thought they might have a record there.
Any help greatly appreciated!
Liz

Retrieving tracking number from receipt?
Post Offices do not have a searchable record of barcodes.
They are supposed to keep a paper record of certain types of mail, including international tracked. All this report covers is date & time sent, barcode and type of service. The data is organised by date & time. If you take that information from your other receipt and ask the PO very nicely then they might go looking for you. Please bear in mind that this is a time consuming, manual process with no guarantee of success. The branch are well within their rights to refuse to even look for you.

Retrieving tracking number from receipt?
Hi,
Thank you for your response. As I had hoped, there might be a way to get it back then? That is good news indeed! I will go tomorrow and be my nicest and most charming best. I don't suppose a token of chocolates or flowers would be out of order?
Fingers crossed!

It probably won’t hurt, though in my experience most P.O. staff are quite embarrassed to receive gifts! Maybe do some thing but don’t go overboard?

As a quick update, the sub postmaster found the tracking number and tracked it down for me. It was stuck in Oslo sorting office. Warned me that as I still didn't have the right part of the receipt, I'd not be able to claim on the insurance, but at least I know it's in the right part of the world and following phone calls from the customer, it seems to have started moving. Happy days!
