Should I be worried?

Post by apexmyth »

Hi All,

I sent a parcel to the USA on 17th October 2017 via tracked and signed for. Took it to the post office to make sure everything was correct. I've been checking the tracking and there has been no update since I took it to the post office. Its a week later and I have no idea where it is, I have called and they have said its not even at the next tracking point which should be heathrow.

Should I be worried that its been lost or stolen? (the contents of the parcel was a hand made soft toy)

Any batteries in the soft toy? What did you put on the customs declaration?

Nothing wrong contents-wise then.

Is there literally just one tracking point, along the lines of "accepted at XXXX PO"? Or does it show passage through a mail centre or two?

I've had a look at the tracking, or lack of. About 5 years ago there was an occasional fault which made items display tracking like that despite the item progressing normally. Another possibility is that the barcode label has fallen off: this is particularly common for irregular shaped soft items wrapped in brown paper or some types of plastic wrapping.

But you really need to take this to Royal Mail's customer services. The best results usually seem to be received if you contact them via Twitter.

I've contacted them via twitter, awaiting a reply. I doubt the label fell off since I sent the soft toy in a box.

I'll chat with the recipient later today on discord and ask her to keep an eye out if it does reach her.
