Does postman PDA's location tracker activate on scanning?

Post by rdadnan »

Hi,
My Track 48 parcel containing a mobile phone been misdelivered by postman last Saturday 14th October . Upon alerting the D/O, postman said he can't remember where he delivered the parcel. The printed track info page given to me by D/O doesn't has any delivery point location info.
I wonder doesn't the hand held scanner gps/location tracker activate on scanning?
Many thanks

I can't tell you anything about the scanner, but you should be able to get the seller to send you a new one. If you had bought from an EU-based seller this wouldn't be in doubt, but clearly the seller is Chinese so your rights aren't quite so strong. If you can't get them to send another, make a chargeback claim via your credit card company.

Does postman handheld scanner's location tracker activate on scanning?

When we've had complaints come through there has been a print out of a map showing the PDA's gps location for the item. It is supposedly accurate to within 10 feet or so, but it is either the point where it was scanned or the point where delivery was confirmed (not sure which) - if neither were done on the doorstep it may not be much use.

Thanks fb1969 for your reply.
From the tracking reference JV04 4230 815G B
url:https://www.royalmail.com/track-your-item#/
I can see the item been scanned before delivery or safe place, as the status shown delivered with time stamp.

If they can see location on the map then it's not hard for them to retrieve the item or at least the can confirm the item not delivered to my address.
I have lodge complain to customer care.

I am guessing that you are a postie as the picture is from RMs Intranet. If so, and you have a decent manager/locker staff, they MAY be able to check on Blackbay, but I don't know how long the keep the history on that.

It was, but the seller was Chinese. Think the consumer protection law is about where the seller is based. I was really trying to make the point that the customer is better using their time to chase the seller rather than RM, given the way the law works.

Thanks TrueBlueTerrier for your reply. Yes, I am an ex-postie :Very Happy . Upon alerting the postman he told me not to worry as he'll back to office and get the gps location to figure out where the item been delivered. As he didn't back to me , i wanted to find out if that gps location things a fact or fiction.

Yes, Snaggletooth, i think I have to go the charge back route if things not sorted in next few days. But I was thinking all this process time for charge back+resend the item from china. It would be quicker if D/O finds the item(assume it's just address mixed up and postie need memory jolts). On top of it Gearbest the chines company is reputable and they have stock of the item i am after, i was worried if that charge back make them cross with me for future business .
I got twit from RM
We do now have a response from the Manager that came through today confirming the Delivery Officer is aware of his mistake and he will rectify this right away.
