if that is truly the attitude from CWU leadership we are in trouble. Wrong on so many levels.wdo1256 wrote:UrbanPirate wrote:There is little to no appetite to strike in my office in December. The point that was made at the meeting was that Royal Mail went to the courts and called for mediation not the CWU, therefore the ball is in there court to make concessions, otherwise what was the point of going to court in the first place.
Royal Mail is also under pressure to come to an agreement, from the government, shareholders, companies that use us to name a few.

That was a well thought out response,notterry2972 wrote:That was a well thought out argument, not, so do you think we should go back to the 19th century and just accept what our so called betters deem to give usUrbanPirate wrote:There is little to no appetite to strike in my office in December. Not sure if there is a difference between the managers 'pay deal' you're referring to and the Four Pillars dispute we posties have been voting on but if they are one and theredneck wrote:interesting, so Unite managers have rejected their pay deal too? They are generally as fed up as we are then. Although they still have sold their soul to implement whatever their masters require ultimately.
same, the Unite ballot (which TBT pointed out on a different thread was merely a 'consultative' one) was hardly an overwhelming rejection. From the Unite
website itself:
"The ballot turnout was 28 percent with 49 per cent voting to accept the company’s position with 51 per cent voting to reject it."
Not much support from fellow Union members there in my opinion.

Maybe many didn't bother voting as they wanted to vote No and felt that they were going against their union wishes' , 28% turnout is poor by any standards. I'm hoping that there is common ground to work together to get us a better deal.

You're right, the majority of us do want mediation to work, but by the sounds of it talks are not going to work if RM don't want to talk. Most, if not all, in my office believe that mediation will not work.UrbanPirate wrote:There is little to no appetite to strike in my office in December. At the end of the day if there is no agreement we are on strike before or after Christmas and if you don't like it, go and get another job!

Just because you lot want something to be true so hard, does not make it true. Do you seriously think people will strike in December? Really? Do you really think it would be wise to strike in December?
Changes are going to be made. A business must adapt with the times. If it doesnt. It fails. Adapt or die. I know which one I am capable of doing.

Surely you are capable of doing both (but not at the same time)UrbanPirate wrote: Adapt or die. I know which one I am capable of doing.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

thing is with these hypocrites though, they totally reject the union, going on strike, or even arguing against RMs disgraceful plans. but when we've been out on strike and won concessions better terms and a decent payrise, they take them with no morals whatsoever. they've been to work, crossed the picket lines, then gladly take what we have fought for. they make me physically sick.

I think his point is supposed to be Darwinian in that animals that fail to adapt die.
If he knew what he was talking about he would understand that some animals adapt to their environment and some adapt their environment. Both are evolutionary.
Of course if you believe in God/s his whole point is not just irrelevant and uneducated, it's sacrilegious.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

It's dying now - the board are running it into the ground, the offers that they are making will do nothing to grow the business and create new wealth. It's slash and burn you fool! Remember Philip Green who raided the pension pot, it's happening now so wake the f**k up! You're having your pants pulled down and you can't see it. It's a good job we didn't have to rely on people like you in the war, we'd all be talking German now.

Just be relieved that his views have been proven to be shared by very few employees in this company. 90% are not of that opinion so it's good to keep that in mind if you read those comments.
I've blocked them personally because its just more inane RM twaddle like we relentlessly had on the PDAs and through the letterbox but I can still read them whenever someone quotes their post.
Thanks for that by the way... not!

You have hit the nail squarely on the head.
