One of the things the Judge weighs up is by awarding an interim injunction what is the detriment both parties will face. For the union the detriment is just time and for the business it is the cost of contracts.
The detriment to the union is not "just time" though. The union despite the opinion of those in comfy seats in Wimbledon is the membership and the detriment to the membership from losing the initiative in this dispute could be potentially around £4-5k every year in pension for around 65,000 members not to mention a poorer pay deal, a poorer pension for those who started after 2008, the unspoken MTSF agreement and a whole host of other terms and conditions that we may have to sacrifice now that the threat of strike action has disappeared up the swanny. Don't try to convince me that's strikes in December are a goer, I'm far too long in the tooth for that. How much detriment does that equate to over the next 20-30 years, a lot more than a lost contract or two.

Someone at HQ should be falling on their sword for this one dingo otherwise the whole thing reeks of a preplanned capitulation. Sometimes a dog that barks doesn't bite because it's been trained well. Do you honestly expect the members to believe that the union didn't see the whole mediation debacle coming? Do we even have lawyers and if we do what the f**k are we paying them for?
No one will be falling on there sword it's a too well paid job just like all the other people in high paid jobs we moan about on here. They will come out with some rallying cry that we stick together and we have RM on the back foot. We will sign a deal because it will save the union face.best we could get and all that rubbish will be said. It's been going on for years in this union.
Just hope the employees at cwu keep there good pensions and get a good pay rise because they are workers like us

CWU capitulation ? Really ? Can't see it myself.

When I was a lad I played rugby union for the school team. One day we had an away match. Within 60 seconds of the start of the match it became clear that the other team were playing rugby league. We agreed to play league rules (on their ground). We lost.
You'd have been a silly person to ever have put money on us winning that game. We wanted to win alright, don't get me wrong. And we had some very strong players and overall a strong team.
To a random outsider the game would have looked like it was all above board, and that the best team won. It would have looked like there were no cause for complaint.

If it hadn't been 'mediation' it would have been something else.
Is that a supposition on my part ? Yes. But all things considered I'd say it had more grounds for believing to be true than the idea that the union are complicit in their own defeat.
Unless of course the union can be said to be complicit in their own defeat by agreeing to play the game at all - much like we did as a lad in the game I mentioned.

Talking of teams it will be interesting to see if Royal mail send their first team to the latest negotiations as it has been speculated there is a "top team" . If there is a change in personnel you would have to question why they have only used the reserves to date. Who will captain the side & will the manager be orchestrating tactics from the stand.

You seem a tad fixated.
Have you got a little crush?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Can you point me to the records of where Moya is throughout the year? I haven't seen anything which suggests she spends most of her time in Canada.

I'll take that as a no. Although you do allude to seeing record of how much her flights cost. Where've you seen that?

The union TRIED to conform with the clause. What more could they have done?
Not agreed to the clause when they signed the last 'deal of the century'?

Some of us saw this coming when they agreed to a no-strike clause during the last disagreement. What kind of union agrees to a no-strike stipulation?

Lou, it's not a no strike clause it's a clause that delays a strike or an lmposition by the company and at the end of the day it was put to the members and we voted to accept it but no way is it a no strike agreement if it was the union wouldn't have ballotted for strike action

This guy! You playing rugby as a "lad" many years ago literally has no comparison to this. Yet again another analogy. A false one at that. I'd even argue your little story didnt even happen and you just concocted it to try and make a point.

When we get to the gate and not a courtroom you can say it's not a no strike clause, until then it's a no strike clause because despite a 90% mandate we have a no strike position.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share
