It just occurred to me that as a person on a 4-day duty, I'll lose 50% of my wages that week. Others on 5 days will lose 40% BUT THAT'S IMMATERIAL. If we don't stand up for ourselves now, and stand in solidarity, the amount of earnings and pension we'll ALL lose in the future makes a couple of days pay look a tiny sacrifice in comparison !!!

*always tickles me, that phrase. Industrial Inaction is what we'll be giving RM

I agree with what you're saying about just sticking together and suck up the hand you're dealt, but I'm not sure it'd be that easy to just flip it over next time.

11pm Thursday to 11pm Saturday will capture nearly everyone in deliveries for two days. No one will be losing three days like they are now.

I think that because of the Saturday being used this time, there are some part timers being captured for three days, as people are saying they start late on weekdays but then a more "normal" time on Saturday. If it was done during mid week then it would have been more likely that that wouldn't have happened. But I understand the union just wanted to put it in asap to show intent.

I do hope the six week rotation is took into consideration though next time. As it stands in our area we have part timers caught for three days and full timers on a four day week with Fri/Sat off not losing anything.

Just sayin' though. Ain't moanin'.

Whatever your scheduled day off is irrelevant. Look at the bigger picture. RM want to destroy your job, your pension, your working hours and conditions.

Stand up and fight for your job, or very shortly it won't be a job worth fighting for!

The strike can be cancelled at any time, right up till the time announced for the strike, There are also many other reasons why a strike would not go ahead. Just because Royal Mail will try to get an injunction does not mean that the strike will automatically be deemed unlawful. The judge will listen to both sides and come up with a Lawful Judgement.

Best advice keep checking here and the CWU sites, and the news as well to keep in the picture, but be prepared to strike as and when asked to.

The court case is likely to be Thursday or Friday. The strike will be on unless the Judge awards Royal Mail an injunction and orders the union into mediation.

With injunction it is never guaranteed , in 2009 the CWU won and Royal Mail lost the inujunction.

The thing is even if Royal Mail were successful they have lost the workforce and there will be industrial unrest and no progress in workplaces around the UK.

Additionally the unions position will get harder and if mediation does take place and there is no solution than the CWU will be taking strike action before Christmas as the timeline allows for this.

It is funny that Royal Mail never mention mediation in any of the propaganda which they used.

Let’s see how this plays out as the injunction is not guaranteed , why did Royal Mail not write too the CWU before or during the ballot asking for mediation. Why did they agree to use ex Head of ACAS Peter Harwood , why did they write to the CWU you saying they did not want to use ACAS ?

What is clear is Royal Mail are going to make concessions they have already wrote to the union stating this !

So the ballot is and will work ! let’s see what the Judge decides ?

Hang on mate ! , your post seems to coincide that the Union knew this was coming ??? ....an Injunction at the high court will ...yes, take us into mediation ....but then we have lost our power ! ....5 weeks of talks which RM will take to the wire , the public will order there Xmas purchases within the 5 weeks of mediation as they will have a heads-up through the media ....so avoiding any delay of they`re deliveries , ...this is an absolute shambles Dingo !! ....i`m absolutely stunned that the CWU didn't see this coming .......OR did they !?

Hold I have not said that at all. Why would we lose any bargaining power there was just as many parcels delivered during Boxing Day and January sales as there were on Black Friday and cyber Monday.

The union is fighting the injunction as we feel we are in the right.

Let’s be clear Royal Mail have used the courts whenever they can. It has never stopped us from fighting.

Let’s see how this week develops ?

Dingo ....my whole point is if Royal mail get a (stay) injunction ....the public will know they have a window to do ALL they`re business sending / buying within the mediation window , i know i will be .....this stinks mate , why for the love of god ...if we call a strike it should stand ...and we will be on the gate on the dates stated ! ... it`s baloney that we will lose this ...why ..why ..why did the CWU not allow for the dirty Shite that RM would play !!??
