Parcelforce Customs Problems?

I wonder if anyone can help me.
A friend sent a gift over from the US with declared worth of $100 and she paid $60 to get it shipped quickly. This is the current tracking status.

Parcel force are sending a letter about Custom Charges. I'd give them a call you may be able to pay over the phone and get it released.

They haven't received it at the local depot, I've just given them a call. I'll try again tomorrow, thankyou so much.
I don't suppose you know how long it might take to get to the depot?

same situation,

I don't know why it would take so many working days just to scan and load the item from Coventry to your local depot, as in my situation. They keep saying it is delayed and guys are working overnight...well they are a company for many years and pretty used to handling heavy traffic regularly no? Their explanation has no meaning anymore

Mine has finally moved. They said I can pay on Monday and get it delivered on Tuesday. It took over a week for them to move it to the depot and it's not even there yet.
26 pound customs charge to look forward too, oh joys. Blooming customs.
