Had a debate with a few fence sitters/ non union members today. They seem like rabbits trapped in the headlights :chuckle
"Surely Royal Mail can't do this after we scabbed last time :Boo hoo! Seems to be the line they're taking but don't say outright
June the union vote YES 'solidarity for ever'.

RM do that with HYS I think we should trust our fellow union members after all it's not a bonus tick point as for the managers but what I would say is TALK to your fellow workers about this but don't tell them how to vote just that they need to have their say or pick splinters out of their ass for the rest of their working lives!

Not judging you, its personal choice after all, but wondering why you wish to vote No ?
Im not judging you either..but by voting no it means you are prepared to accept all their crap...meaning you will end up losing thousands from your pension..later start times..no pay rise...team working where if someone is on annual leave or goes sick you will have to absorb their workload which will inevitably lead to you working over your time for NO extra pay...you will HAVE to do it..you could be out til 7 pm.. 6 hour deliveries will mean many thousands of jobs will be lost..yours could well be one of them...WHY would anyone want to vote for that??..join us and vote to protect yours and your colleagues futures...vote YES

My reason for a no vote.
Royal Mail is now a private company meaning they can do as they please within reason, they are not a charity. It is owned by shareholders who invest in it for a return.

DB pensions theses days are dead and buried the DC offer is still good compared to most companies.

So we have to start later! Not ideal but again it's Royal Mails right to change to operational needs. At least we have time for breakfast at home before work.

Pay is the only gripe I have, I believe it should always be at least with inflation.

We have a start and finish time just do your job in between it. Don't like it leave. Welcome to the new world.

Not heard about RM's plans for walk ownership and team working?

If they bring those in, there will be no 'finish time'.

Currently we have a start and finish time. If RM get their way then you will have a set workload to complete rather than set hours, regardless of how long this takes.

This will never happen it's not legal to make people work beyond their contracted weekly hours....

It is legal if they change the contract to make it legal.

It has to be a proper postal vote, you can't hand your ballot paper to your area rep, you need to contact your branch and make sure this doesn't happen.
That's unbelievable coming from an area rep.

That's a good way to have the union involved in vote-tampering allegations.
Why do you (and he) think a pre-paid envelope is included?
Tell the idiot you'll send it back yourself, but happily inform him (the rep) if he wants to tick you off on his "ballot returned" list.

Posted about this today already.
The new pipeline that we will have to sign up to if Royal Mail gets their way will have the biggest impact on our jobs, terms and conditions above anything else.
I am bothered about a pay rise this year but I am more concerned about the number of mail centres/delivery offices left after the above happens.
We have to get behind the CWU

One scenario for an invalid ballot that was used by our union rep to highlight how important your vote is;

100% yes vote
0% no vote
49% turnout

This would be an invalid ballot.

Walk ownership effectively means no finish time. If you go over your contracted hours you won't be paid overtime like we are now. Whatever comes into the office will go out. There'll be no 'I haven't got time' anymore.

Exactly. There is no way this would happen, ever. But it's a good way of showing how your vote counts.
