Apparently this is one of the strings added to the paltry pay rise.

Summer lapsing

Post by tomangoe »

At Derby the DOM has announced 6 walks into 5 over summer by Executive action and the CWU are having a local ballot over this.Bet you once it comes in it will be the norm with no overtime walks just the old "you can absorb it".We also have the situation of diminishing Postmen and increasing managers. Our division covering some 40 postmen and women has 3 managers! None of them know what they're doing and each contradicts the other-you can't get a decision on anything especially Annual leave. If we don't do something soon there'll be more managers than Postmen.

Ladies and gentlemen, simple GET ON THE VANS
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I've said it in the past and I'll say it again; all we need to do with this proposal for extra work is to do our jobs properly as the front page of this site says.
Appendix 3 of the Conduct Code will protect you in all cases if you want to work to your time. They're making us work as if we're in a factory now, but you wouldn't bring your own machine to the factory would you? Do your 318 to the letter, you'll have done your job and let RM do theirs for once!

They need to provide the infrastructure for you to do your jobs; that's it! No more job and finish anymore, now it's just job :)

Speak to your rep :)

But the basic premise is one of 2 ways of "cutting off on delivery" (which in both cases means, working to your time)

Appendix 3
SAFEGUARDING CUSTOMERS' MAIL AGREED NATIONAL GUIDELINES

3 DELIVERY
3.1 PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT
a) Where an employee feels that on completion of preparation he/she may experience difficulty in completing his/her delivery within the authorised time allotted, he/she should approach his/her manager as soon as possible before setting out on delivery. It will be for the manager to discuss any problem and advise the employee what particular action should be taken.
b) When an individual has requested assistance on delivery, but the manager feels that assistance is not required, this decision along with the advice given to the employee will be recorded and associated with the daily traffic volume records. The employee can have access to this record and may ask to see it prior to commencement of his/her delivery. In addition to recording the employee's request, the employee will be instructed to ring his/her local manager prior to a specified time or as soon as possible if full completion of delivery workload within the time allotted proves not to be possible.

3.2 AFTER COMMENCEMENT OF DELIVERY
a) If an individual is prevented from completing their delivery for any reason, it is essential that this is reported immediately either by returning to the office or by telephone (telephone costs will be refunded). A written record will be kept.
b) All employees should be informed of the local authorised arrangements, in writing, preferably in plastic card form if available.

These are the main points regarding deliveries, ask your rep for a copy if you want :)

anyone who's worked for Royal Mail for any length of time will tell you that once a scheme like this is in place it's in for good. It will NOT be taken out again at the end of the summer period. It's just another way of getting us to do more than the agreed 3.5 hour walks.

Remember they believe we are 40% underworked so this is just to counteract that.

DON'T LET THIS IN

We all had to do this in '03 for no docket for 2/3 weeks when the 3.5 town walks came in to get the £20 bonus consolidated into our pay. It was totally unacceptable then and after the summer it would be here to stay, enough other things have come in this way.

At least in '03 once we'd done the extra work for a few weeks we got a definate £20 extra from then on

this time we get to do a damn site more, but now we have to keep on doing it forever just to get a below inflation increase

AND we have to sign away our right for any future increases

What a fantastic deal. . . . . thanks Leighton & Crozier
