And maybe people with kids at school should have first pick of the holidays ! :arrrghhh
I guess you haven't got Kids then Lizard.

Those comments show exactly "the type " you are.
YES !

I can just imagine if you joined the real world and went for a job interview.
What are the hours?
9 - 5.30
I'll work 6am - 2.30pm thanks.

Lordy Lordy Lordy !
Ernie,
Feel free to make what judgements you like as to what "type" I am :cuppa but I don't know what world, if not the "real" one, I've always lived in  and I've never had a problem with working hours being specified at job interviews and those being the hours I've worked, with a bit of flexibility such as at busy times. :thumbup

the very fact that they have compared us to hermes and yodel to try and justify our pay and conditions, (2 of the worst employers in history) and the disgraceful derisory carrot that was offered to accept the pension robbery shows the level of their contempt for us. anyone who is prepared to accept what they are proposing without nothing short of strike action is deluded.

The argument that Royal Mail could farm out the D2D business doesn't really make any business sense.

Letter and D2D delivery taken on its own doesn't make money on paper, in fact it loses money but that's because when those numbers are crunched all the costs of final mile delivery are loaded onto those streams. Again on paper what that means is that the parcel business has zero final mile delivery costs since its all delivered together, this obviously means that the parcel business can keep its pricing competitive and grow the business.

If you remove letters and/or D2D from the business and farm it out you break the model, all you're left with is a very expensive final mile parcel delivery business at least a couple of years behind the competition technology wise. How long would that business last?

need to campaign to get the d2d payments directly back in the posties hands biggest injustice to all was the d2d payments being stopped.

now they compare us to parcel delivery only companies, but we do d2d's , mail, packets it all walk on average 12-15 miles per day and some of us are still pillars in the community where we deliver. not some random guy who pulls up in a white van rammed full of parcels who flings the item over the fence.

oh managers got a nice healthy bonus and what did we back zilch nada nutin

I honestly cannot believe the animosity of fellow workers against fellow workers. WE as a workforce should be standing up for what is right. We have become exactly what RM management desire, which is divide and conquer. We've seemed to have forgotten what being in a union means. This is playing straight into RM's hands. Without the CWU we are about to lose everything. There is absolutely no doubt about this.
No One wants to strike and lose income,RM know this as do the CWU.
RM management have to be held accountable for what has happened to this great British icon. Are we,as a workforce, willing to be slated as overpaid, lazy and under performing? If you feel that this is a perfect description of you,sit back and take it.
There are 10000s of others who are, constantly, harassed,'bullied, integrity questioned etc. Enough is enough.
Though do not slate others for buckling under pressure from management.
The CWU should be doing a hell of a lot more,I agree, but when management get off scotfree after grievance after grievance gets swept away. It is disheartening. But please stop attacking your fellow workers.

I will resolutely stand with those who aren't afraid of doing a hard day's work. Unfortunately, there are too many of our colleagues who are frankly bone-idle and have no interest or pride in their work. In my experience at Royal Mail over the years these individuals DO hide behind the union and take great pleasure in boasting to all and sundry "can't touch me or I'll get the union onto you" etc etc etc. They are always the "victims" of "bullying and harrassment".

I have said it before and I'll say it again. The sooner Royal Mail gets rid of these 'do the bare minimum' colleagues and employs staff who actually want to work and can turn up on time in the correct attire and not swan in and out the premises for cigarettes every quarter of an hour, the better for everyone.

When I hear these lazy shirkers moaning because they were '10 minutes over' yet have no qualms with swanning off home an hour and a half early another day or standing around gossiping with their fellow shirkers while the grafters in the office do all the IPS, it really does hammer home the need for real change at Royal Mail.

No other company would tolerate these antics from their employees. Like it or not we all have to increase our productivity and work all our paid hours. Job and finish is the root cause of these lazy, sloppy attitudes so you cannot fault Royal Mail now for wishing to remove the slack that has existed all these years.

Industrial action will have zero public support especially if foisted upon our customers in the run up to Christmas. Like the coal industry, we are an industry in decline and unless we act fast to make our brand the best it can be and exploit and grow our parcels markets we face certain oblivion. So instead of throwing pointless tantrums about whether to down tools or not we should be facing up to some hard truths about the extent of change needed to secure the future of our industry.

Wrong. You have the right to apply for "concessions" to your employment contract. The business does not have to accede to them if they have a business reason not to do so.

I guess those that need to collect children from school may have to leave when a postpersons job joins the masses of working day time then.
The days of at least 8 - 4pm on the way.
Strike action wont even delay the inevitable

Hey Ho
I must admit I'm getting very tired of this culture of "I've got kids so I need family friendly duties" what constitutes so called family friendly duties? We all have families! Just do what we all have to do and have a work life balance that doesn't involve your work colleagues having to change their lives to compensate for you own selfish needs! I managed to successfully do it when my children were young!
