Package not delivered due to incomplete address

Post by lezion »

Hello everyone

I have recently bought a phone off Gumtree, I have paid the money for it, sent a address details and it was posted by the seller on Friday 19th. He sent it using Special Delivery Guaranteed. On Sunday I checked the tracking number and they tried to deliver it twice but there was no one at my door. Status of the parcel was already change return to sender. I have contacted the seller immediately but he said he didn't put Return Address on it, so package went to National Return Centre. I have also contacted RM customer service and the told me that address was incomplete. My question is how long it might take if he files the claim form to get the package back to him? He refuses to give my money back saying he wrote my address correctly. Please help it seems I lost a bit off money. :cry

Regards

If the seller is based in the U.K. then the law is clear: it is the sender's responsibility to get it to you in the time agreed, regardless of what happened with Royal Mail. You need to make a claim via Gumtree and / or your credit card provider.
