Hi all, got a family member on the phone with RM (I think anyway - currently at work so I can't ring them) but I'm having an issue regarding an item sent to me from the states. Royal Mail tracking showed it as being en route to my local DO at 4am today - but an hour after I checked the tracking now brings up the message that the number isnt recognised. How does this happen?
USPS tracking shows the item as being processed trough a facility in London at 8pm yesterday - something which RM tracking had shown too.
Any help is appreciated.

Do you have the tracking number there are other sites we can check, sometimes RMs T&T falsely reports invalid numbers, especially when the site is busy.

Yeah, so on USPS tracking it's not as comprehensive and only shows the parcel leaving Heathrow last night. Using aftership shows just USPS updates, setting the courier to Royal Mail brings errors, as does the post office site.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:Do you have the tracking number there are other sites we can check, sometimes RMs T&T falsely reports invalid numbers, especially when the site is busy.

If its only the USPS tracking showing Heathrow that means it isn't in Royal Mails hands yet. Seemingly USPS they are the only ones that scan from the aircraft to Customs and that seems to be what you are seeing.

Parcel tracking number from America not recognised?
But this is the thing - it was handed to RM and was being tracked by them to the point that it was on its way to my local delivery office, after which it stopped working. So unless they're sending a customs notice to me (which my stepdad would have bought home - he's a postie) I have no clue what's going on.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:jake14799 wrote:Yeah, so on USPS tracking it's not as comprehensive and only shows the parcel leaving Heathrow last night. Latest update from USPS was that it was processed through a facility after departing Heathrow. Forgot to say.

Problem resolved.
While tracking was bolstered for about a day, USPS reported it as 'delivered' when it was sitting in the DO.
Got a £102 customs to charge to pay now...
