I'm new here so don't really understand the whole process of how parcels are processed through customs etc. I've just checked the tracking on a delivery of mine and it says "Customs Charges Raised". What does this mean? It arrived it the UK on Sunday, it's now Wednesday and I'm yet to hear anything. Can anyone explain what's going on? Again, sorry if I'm coming across as naive, this is the first parcel I've ever ordered from abroad

Customs have noted that vat is chargeable on the goods you are importing so royal mail are paying them on your behalf and will then send you a card telling you how much you need to pay to release your parcel for delivery

A week or so at the outside once Customs have made their decision, then it depends on how long it takes to pay the outstanding amount. There is also an Admin charge which will bump up the cost.edwinstree wrote:Awesome, any idea how long this roughly takes? Whatever you do don't trash all your mail for the next week or so, keep an eye out for a Grey Card, that will the notice informing you how much there is to pay (and how to pay it).
