Special going to a school that was closed for Easter holidays

Post by simmo11 »

I sent a Special Delivery 1pm before Easter containing some pre-school admission papers for my son. The track and trace is as follows:

Date: 18/04/17
Time: 13:15
Status: AT DELIVERY OFFICE
Track point: PRESTWICH PDO
Date: 18/04/17
Time: 10:17
Status: DELIVERY ATTEMPTED18/04/17
Track point: PRESTWICH PDO
Date: 16/04/17
Time: 11:27
Status: ON ITS WAY TOPRESTWICH PDO
Track point: MANCHESTER MAIL CENTRE
Date: 16/04/17
Time: 07:36
Status: ARRIVED ATMANCHESTER MAIL CENTRE
Track point: MANCHESTER MAIL CENTRE

They were unable to deliver as the school was closed for the Easter Holiday - this is not an issue since delivery of the forms is required by the end of Tuesday 25 April.

However - will the school need to collect themselves or are arrangements made for such occurrences (every time schools go on holiday and close) such that mail is automatically redelivered when they reopen?

Hoping someone in the know can help calm my nerves!

Thanks.

It can be different from office to office but in my office delivery has to be attempted for a special just in case someone is expecting it. Then they either leave a card and wait for the school to collect it, or the school to rearrange rearrange delivery.

We get told to scan it as inaccessible, then try again when the school is open. Assuming that someone knows when the school re-opens!

If the school is shut they should have a keepsafe in place. This holds the mail until the school re-opens. The item has probably been scanned as inaccessible and will go out with the rest of the mail when the school re-opens.
