Hi - I shipped a parcel to the UK LZ345785369US which the USPS shows "delivered" however the recipient indicated he never received it.
I tracked it on Royal Mail a week or so ago and got the following info:
Date Time Status Track point
10/03/17 05:53 IN RECIPIENT PO BOX CAMBRIDGE PDO
10/03/17 04:50 ARRIVED ATPETERBOROUGH MAIL CENTRE PETERBOROUGH MAIL CENTRE
09/03/17 23:02 ON ITS WAY TOCAMBRIDGE PDO PETERBOROUGH MAIL CENTRE
09/03/17 00:29 ON ITS WAY TOPETERBOROUGH MAIL CENTRE HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC
08/03/17 20:29 ARRIVED IN THE UK HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC
Which I passed along to the recipient. The recipient checked with the post office and was informed the parcel is being sent back to me - I guess since he didn't pick it up on time - though he said he never received a notice.
Now when I check the tracking number on the Royal Mail site I receive the following message:
"Sorry - we don't recognise that reference number."
If there any way I can obtain more information on this parcel? Thank you!

The last message is probably just one of Royal Mail's periodic tracking system outages, if so it will likely be fixed within a working day or two.
The rest of the tracking is consistent with an item with import tax to pay. Customers often seem to think the grey "charge to pay" cards are junk mail, expecting instead to see the more common red "while you were out" cards. The item should be on it's way back by now if not collected as it has exceeded the waiting time.

Hi - I've been periodically trying to track this and I still get the same message that the parcel number is not recognized.
Any thoughts on why it may have disappeared from the system? Or if anyone else has any luck finding it in the tracking system please let me know - thank you!

I tried a couple of tracking sites, basically it is showing as "delivered" with a reasonably comprehensive range of tracking points on USPS.com but not recognised on RM and Parcelforce tracking. This is very unusual. You could ask Royal Mail's twitter handle about this, basically use the contents of the first post in this thread. Their Twitter people are generally regarded as their best customer advisors, plus it might embarrass them into action.
But also, as it has been more than 5 weeks and the tracking has gone cold, you should be making a lost parcel claim via USPS.

I didn't have Twitter so I had to create an account and my 11 y/o son had to help me :) I sent a screenshot of my first post in this thread to the Royal Mail Twitter account. Hopefully it will work!
I don't think the USPS will be any help. It shows "delivered" on their system and they are usually hands off on international shipments once they have been passed along to the other country's postal service.
I give this about a 50/50 chance to showing up again. Though I could see me getting it back like 6 months from now when I have forgotten all about it!

Good news! Royal Mail did reply to me on Twitter:
It is being returned & left the UK on the 15/4.
And I just received the parcel back to me in the mail today. A customs sticker had been placed directly over my return address but a resourceful postal worker scratched it off in that area so that it could come back to me.
Very pleased to have it back.. thanks for the assistance :)
