It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

...dogs can legally take our fingers!

Post by Himaggen »

Well, as I've already mentioned in the other dog thread in the last week, I had my finger end all but removed and badly crushed by a dog through a letterbox. After surgery to hopefully re-attach I'm obviously going to lose not just wages and maybe even the ability to do my job again as well as I did before, but my ability to continue my life without having to make changes until perhaps one day I can once gain use my finger.

The thing which pisses me off is that this canine behaviour of attacking mail is too common. The Police state that under their rules, the dangerous dogs act, these dogs can remove our fingers without them being able to act against them or their owners.

Surely if the owner, who has legal control, has not trained their animal sufficiently to prevent harm coming to those with whom they may legitimately come into contact, then a law must have been broken. As the Police are the law upholders they must by definition be able to prevent this from continuing to happen.

Unfortuantely as H&S guidelines instruct Postal staff not to put their fingers actually inside the letter box, they will always refer back to that. It is completely daft though that if someone breaks into your house and you confront him and hurt him he can sue you, but if your hurt while doing your job of posting their mail there is nothign you can do. Justice what justice.

Firstly, I'd like to see those 'guidelines', a location/reference would be helpful; and secondly, my finger was only ever inside a letterbox when pulled inside with a letter and grabbed, (all in one very quick movement), by a very fast and powerful bull terrier.

<Edit>
I only have size 8s, does that mean I'm being picked on by dogs who are 'feetists' and if so is that illegal

now at this late hour i am wondering if it is past the watershed yet? cos i could go with one or two things here. firstly tommo is i am assuming interested in the doggie thing with you!!! i however am wondering why it is only confined to dogs licking balls. my wife is not a dog!!!
seriously my dom once gave me dog biscuits. he was a little pissed when i asked for more b4 the week was up. he just could not believe that i was that hungry. the yellow diamond one was the best
