Incorrect address on international package

Post by nova26 »

I've sent a package to Austria with the first line of address written incorrect. Is there any way to contact someone to give them the correct information? I know it's in Austria now and a delivery was attempted. The person it's been sent to has tried to contact their local post office but the tracking number isn't being recognised over there.

In the U.K. It is illegal to change the delivery address of a parcel except in certain specific circumstances (this isn't one of them).

The best chance of this getting sorted is for the recipient to contact the local mail service and get it changed, if allowed under local law.

Sadly no. They would have to track the parcel down and physically change the address. Not only is that impracticable due to the volume of parcels within any national system, it is also technically against the law (at least in the UK) - Parcels and letters should be delivered as addressed, or if unable, returned to the sender.
