Hi.
Do you think it would be fine to send £5000 in cash via special delivery guaranteed?
It's in different currencies (polish zlotys and euro) - they're various gifts from relatives and friends abroad.
I want to send it to my fiance for safe keeping, but she's at the other end of the country. I don't want to exchange it back to £ and deposit it in the bank because we'll me using them in June, and exchange rates are really bad at the moment.
Would that be fine? Any advice?

It will be fine if you do the following:
1. Split it into two packages;
2. Declare the value at the Post Office and pay the extra;
3. Use the dedicated, tamper-proof Special Delivery polythene envelopes available from most Post Offices.
The envelopes increase security by being impossible to open and re-seal without causing blindingly obvious damage to the envelopes: this discourages tampering. Most offices sell a pre-paid version (you will need to pay slightly more when you send it to get the full cover), some POs supply an alternative unpaid version where you pay the full price on sending.
You might want to think about how you will prove what the contents were in the unlikely event of a claim: have you got bureau de change receipts etc?
