I put a gift card inside a birth of new baby card last Tuesday,it had a 1st class stamp on it,but checked its weight at post office and paid another 96p as it was a large letter,it had full correct postcode on it,it hasn't arrived ! I expected it would the next day what can I do could it be held up at delivery local office ,I never asked for a certificate of postage wish I had now ! Just like to trust it got there to be honest any ideas who to contact please ? Thankyou

There is not much that you can do as you used an untracked service with no maximum time on it. A certificate of posting would have been of no use to you as you aren't allowed to send vouchers in the normal mail. You currently have no basis to complain to Royal Mail.

The PO clerk should have advised you to send the package by Special Delivery, for a cost of approx £5, both so that the contents were covered for loss / damage and so that you got next day guaranteed delivery, if you were not advised of this you could complain to Post Office customer services on 03457 22 33 44.

thankyou for your reply i will wait till Tuesday then ring customer service ,the clerk at the counter (inside a corner shop) knew what was in it and advised nothing she kept the card at the counter after placing the extra stamps needed onto it, i assumed she placed it in a mail bag for collection,perhaps it got left behindcausing a delay think i will pop in there tomorrow thanks again lesson learned aswell !

Hi just an update I spoke to post office customer service,they put me on hold whilst contacting my local post office and are sending me £20 which is the max plus 6 1st class stamps it covers the £25 mothercare gift card so thankyou very much for your advice
