Hello everyone.
Forgive me if this has been asked elsewhere but when I click search it says I am not authorized to search the forum?
Anyway......
Clearing out my attic I have found lots of books of stamps in a box that aren't 1st/2nd class etc but instead are:
Books of 68p stamps (gold/grey sort of colour) that are airmail as they have the blue air mail sticker inside to.
Books of 65p stamps (green/blue sort of colour) that are worldwide airmail on front and have the blue stickers inside.
Books of 42p stamps (dark grey sort of colour) that are airmail as they have the blue air mail sticker inside to.
Books of stamps that have the letter E on them which I assume is european airmail?
A couple of questions I have:
1. Can the 68p and 65p stamps be used instead of 1st class stamps (about to cost 65p each) and have the same effect in the UK? So if selling them to people is it ok to say they are the same effect as 1st class stamps if posting in UK or do they have to be used as airmail?
2. Similarly can you use the 42p stamp as UK postage and just pay the extra fee at a post office to make your letter 1st/2nd class?
3. When looking online the books and individual stamps of 68p are being sold for more than face value? Why is this? I don't see anything special about them, I would be more than happy to get face value or even slightly less?
Thanks in advance

You can use stamps for the value of postage shown, so yes you can use the 65p and 68p stamps for 1st class UK postage (subject to weight limit and envelope size), and you can use the 42p for 1st or 2nd class UK postage if additional stamps are used to make up the postage to the total required.
I don't know why anyone would pay more than the face value, unless perhaps they are a commemorative issue which stamp collectors might want for their collection.
