Undelivered - Office Closed

Hi there,

I've decided to post here to find solace for the delivery of my parcel.

I ordered a package to be sent from the UK to Canada, but was met with the following message just last Friday - "UNDELIVEREDNOT AT ADDRESS, OFFICE CLOSED". I assumed it was cause of the next stage in delivery after passing customs, whichever office it would be, to be closed. But having checked today (Monday) for any updates, there didn't seem to be any new updates as to where the package is now... Very excited and anxious to receive this package.

Could anyone provide insight as to what might be happening?

Is the delivery address your work address or your home address? If it's your work address then the tracking status might mean that your local postman attempted delivery before your place of work opened up for the day

The delivery address is actually my home address. I haven't checked too thoroughly for any card regarding the mailman having come by, mainly due to the fact that it said "Office Closed".

Could this mean that they attempted to deliver to my house rather than to an office?

It's possible that the postman had the wrong "mode" selected on their PDA. Have any cards been left to say that you missed a delivery?

Looking around the house, I haven't seen any card that says that we've missed a delivery...

I imagined that once Royal Mail got the parcel to Canada, that they would provide me with a Canada Post tracking number of sorts, though this hasn't been provided.

UPDATE: I've tried tracking my package using the national Canadian postal service but to no results. My biggest worry right now is that they would send it back to the UK without further contacting me...

If that happens then the tracking system will update as it tracks back.

However, some Canada Post deliveries are to community mail boxes and by heck, are they having problems with them. If you do have box in a roadside community box I'd check there. Then contact Canada Post as they act as RMs agents in Canada, as we do for them in the UK.

After contacting Canada Post, they've told me that the package tracking number shows that it hasn't yet arrived in Canada yet, or it could be stuck in customs. However, the Royal Mail tracking system said that the delivery was attempted..

I've contacted Royal Mail live chat services as well but they told me that it would be using the same tracking number... Things aren't adding up and now I'm not too sure where my package is.

I don't have a community mailbox either :(

Is there an estimated number of days to collect the item before it gets shipped back?

No of days would be down to Canada Posts Policy - ours would be 18 days.

This is a wild shot, but sometimes we get similar status's when there is Duty or VAT to pay on imported items. We send out a card to tell customers, Canada Post will hopefully do something similar.

I'm not too sure how many days the Canada Post will keep my package for before sending it back, I'll check again later. I've searched for a while but couldn't find any more information on the problem.

One thing I did notice though, was that the package was possibly not passed customs yet, or they have not notified me about duties like you mentioned before. Checking the same tracking number on the Canada Post site gave me no additional information... all it states was that the package was inbound from a different country and therefore couldn't provide any more information.

Would it be possible that Canada Post hasn't received the item yet? Because otherwise putting the tracking number into the Canada Post tracking system would give me a "received package" message at the very least, if my reasoning is correct.

UPDATE 09/03/2017: My package finally arrived! There was never any updated status report so I wasn't able to track it, but it managed to get to my house. Thank you again!
