Delivery attempt but suddenly insufficient address
1 parcels were sent from me from Germany. Sent by the same sender, same day, same time, same delivery address. 1 was delivered ok and left in our shed, the other was allegedly taken back to the post office. I say allegedly because I only found out tha rough the tracking, no card was left. I rearranged the delivery for today and also confirmed the delivery address. This morning there was no update in the tracking so I called and was promised that the parcel would be redelivered today. Again I Who are confirmed the delivery address. 2 hours later I see in the tracking INSUFFICIENT ADDRESS! How can they have attempted a delivery a week ago when the address is insufficient? I feel very let down, even more so because the customer service promised and promised and seem to have lied to me with the delivery attempt! Does anyone have an idea what I can do to get hold of that parcel?

The simple answer to "how could ..." is that the sender put an incomplete address on one package, then everything would play out exactly as you describe. I'm not saying that it did happen like that but it has happened before and will happen again.

But how, if the address was incorrect, did they try a delivery a week ago? How come they made it to my house with the incorrect or insufficient address?
In addition, when I try and rearrange a delivery online they have the correct address linked to my tracking number.

Postie 1 - knew you and recognised the address was wrong but knew where it should be going. he may be the regular postie. Weirdly this is actually against policy - vague addresses should be returned to sender rather than taking a chance.
Postie 2 - Covers the round rarely and knew the address did not exist, or part of it was missing. Does not know the round as well as the regular, so in line with the policy explained above - returned it to sender.
In fact only this week I had the exact same thing. I recognised an incorrect address and delivered it (against policy) they were expecting another but I was working somewhere else so the cover postie sent it back.
As to the address as far as I can tell its not linked to your tracking number, but is generated when you enter your postcode and select the correct address. It asks for a tracking number later on - but I may be wrong I haven't used that system for a genuine redelivery recently.

I just got an update regarding this. The sender called DHL Germany and they confirmed that they booked the parcel with the correct address. Why would the Royal Mail then claim that the address is not correct?

I know this doesn't answer your question completely but it could be the address has become damaged somehow with only part of it readable
As for customer service promising delivery, i'm afraid they promise things which they have little control over just to keep the customer happy but all to often it backfires on them

Perhaps a timely reminder that we are not Royal Mail, and that this is an unofficial site is warranted.
